Some time ago a friend of mine got to play and imperial probe droid with screwy programming. His name was 2ez2c or to easy to see. I laugh every time i think of it. He was a great character, you should have seen people get out of his way in case he self destructed. LOL

One could have a lot of fun with that if his bad programming made him suicidally depressed:

"Oh woe is me. Once my purpose was to seek, to find, to locate. But now all seems futile. Why should I strive to keep my poor metals limbs in motion? Why not still these malfunctioning circuits and relays and end it all now? Oh woe is me!...Inititiating destruct sequence initialization in 10...9...8..."

I am totally stealing that idea. I can't wait to watch the PCs scramble. Twisted Evil Now should that play out in a cantina or tapcaf, on board their ship, or maybe in an express turbolift on the way to the top of a very, very tall building?

Or if not suicidal, just possessed of a very malicious sense of humor. Wink

I'm glad someone can use the idea.

I just can't see any player group riding with a probe droid(Unless he is a party member.) having him just self destruct seems wasteful, like you are using him as a throw away character, but it's you game.

2EZ2C Was always on the ball and was one of us but it would have been a really nice twist if he was actually an imperial spy and he wasn't aware of it!

Me thinks Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was the reference Bren was making. If you haven’t read it, Douglas Adams was awesome. Don’t miss the Dirk Gently stuff too. Adam’s does the most well thought out absurd sci fi stuff ever.

Cheers

I honestly think that if Marvin the manically depressed robot had a self destruct device he would be to depressed to use it.

Hahaha.. This got me thinking of a song called Purpose in Life by Antiloop. It starts with a weird sample, which I much later heard when the 1974 movie Dark Star was on the telly late at night.

An AI bomb refuses to release itself from the craft when its supposed to blow up an unstable planet. The main character is then having a priceless conversation with the bomb.. (heavy on extistencialism and phenomenology).

-Doolittle: Wait! Wait! Now, bomb, consider this next question very carefully. What is your one purpose in life?
-Bomb #20: To explode, of course.

Sounds like a quote for a suicidical probe droid..

Nope. Haven't read it or seen it. It's one of the odd holes in my pop culture experience. In fact the extent of my Hitchhiker's Guide knowledge is "42." Wink

Well, that's the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything. What else is there to know?
