I know it might sound pedantic but because firearms magazines are so small compared to blasters, we will need to keep track of shots to reload when needed, but I won't go into such extreme detail as clip springs wearing out quicker at full magazine capacities. So you can fill the double stacked 9mm-caseless clip with 15rds if you like.
As a custom option we can have extended 30rd clips available but these stick a long way out the handle and will cause damage to the weapon (in the feed area, by snagging on things) if normally carried around like this.
Similar pedant, throwing knives here will have customised construction including handle balancing, designed both to penetrate well and do serious damage when thrown (Str+1D) but they are more slender, smaller and not quite as handy to use in melee as a large, serated military combat-survival rambo knife (Str+1D), and do Str+2p in melee use. As a comparison, a small common utility knife does Str+1p as a base. A nice switchblade would do Str+2p. Big survival/combat knives do Str+1D in melee but aren't suitable for throwing very far or well.

As for DSP in situations of using the Force for personal gain...it is an in-character question ruled by Scholar: Ashla Philosophies or equivalent, but it's a very easy piece of knowledge with this specialisation and raised to only easy difficulty for general Scholar skill use. I rolled success for you.
The question is one of greed versus utilitarian skill use. The answer is in a question (gotta love the way mystics always do that), "What do you need the credits for?"
ie. ruled on a case by case basis Wink

I dont know about anyone else, but 12 rounds per clip will probably be the norm for my character. He also has 4D in Firearms Repair: Pistols to help take care of his own weapon.

I dissagree about not being able to use a throwing knife as a regular knife in a fight. I personally have a set of throwing knives that are good for both throwing and regular use. The only reason why you would shy away from using them as a regular knife in a fight is that they have nothing to protect your hand. That said, my character is only REALLY interested in using them as throwing knives, but if its an issue, I'd like to take a single regular knife (as a backup in desperate situations.) if thats ok? The traditional knife would likely be a smallish combat knife (Something full tang.) If it helps any, this is the knife (And the one I own 6 of) I was thinking of for the character:
http://www.knife-depot.com/knife-81874.html

The DSP question. How I see my character is that he would win for the fun of winning, and USUALLY win by raw talent instead of using powers to increase his odds (The credits wouldnt be the driving force.) While he would be looking to make a small profit to help cover the his own expenses, much of his winnings would go into drinks for his companions and the people he is gambling with. So, the answer is that I dont want to profit from the use of Force powers, but if it can somehow put us in a better social position, its probably going to be fine?

I'm fairly experienced myself (kobudo ryuha weapons training and use, ten years, limited RAAF background, owned a lot of very pricey Gerber knives and some custom jobs from Japan before they were banned locally, played with a lot of types a lot and that's an understatement in my early 20s, me an' some mates did these survival camps...).

But I appreciate fully I am no god of the world. I can be easily wrong as a human being. But for gamesake I really need to work with a simplified system that I can use logically for PC item construction and common engineering rules, yes fictional and oversimplified but nice and structured like leggo blocks. Trust me we tried a lot in tabletop games and found this benefits PC freedoms the most because there is a simple common rule to work with in custom item construction that opens those skills right up without game imbalance by individual Player ideas of what superweapon he comes out with and tailors with no established common guidelines using a moderate construction roll.

Say I want a buckleknife, concealed in my belt buckle. Str+1p.
A bootknife, about the size of a large stilletto or a throwing knife. Str+2p used in melee. Balanced and specialised for throwing, bonus it gets Str+1D thrown.
A big, widebladed combat knife with serations and grooves you really have to carry on a hip in a big sheath. Str+1D in melee. Not so good thrown.
Bayonets range in damage Str+2p to Str+1D depending on size and design (keep in mind a vibrobayonet only does Str+1D+1 or Str+1D+2).
Something almost the size of a machete, about the length of your thigh, generally best carried over your back or else it's like a small shortsword. Str+1D+1. And you can almost count on a random result if you try to throw that.
Something wakizashi sized or a decent modern shortsword. Str+1D+2.
A longsword crafted with modern technologies. Str+2D. Yes Arnie has thrown one in a movie but he rolled a heroic doing it.
A fuedal tech broadsword made of wrought iron and tempered edge inserts in the Celtic style. Str+1D+2.

I'm easy how we look at it, but that's where I come down on those items as sold in SWU commercial outlets Wink

Here is what I will stipulate: any PC can construct custom equipment with appropriate skill use, parts and tools, and item research in gaming terms.
Your PC could be the one who says, "Now that's just ridiculous, I can build a throwing knife that is as usable in melee and does as much damage as a big serated combat knife due to its {insert concept} qualities."
And absolutely you can do that, I've no problem with it. A custom knife will probably receive quite an array of bonuses partly because it is such a big muckaround to actually construct for a PC, and partly because logically a custom tailored weapon can greatly surpass a mass produced one for usable qualities.

In the meantime you're totally free to carry a traditional combat-survival knife (Str+1D melee) on a belt sheath or some other rational location, in addition to any number of balanced, specialised throwing knives (Str+1D thrown, Str+2p melee) in boot sheaths and across a bandolier, or whathaveyou. I'd even rule slender throwing knives are easier to conceal about your person than combat knives.

Oh and I almost forgot. Vibroblades do exist, but just some modified guidelines. You might want one of those for melee.
I'll write some period vibroweapons up along with the rifles I was going to do and post them in a few hours. Bear with me...

In fact I'm starting a full list of bladed weapons powered, non-powered, modern and archaic construction, alien and traditional, right now. Prices, availability, the works.

Ok, I finished up the character. Look it over and let me know what you think, and let me know if there is anything that needs to be changed. My biggest area of concern is the background. I didnt want to get too involved in his background because I didnt want to potentially include something that dosnt fit with your story. I can write a more detailed backstory if you would like?

Description: The only things average about Sammel is his height and his build. Sammel comes from asian decent. His almond eyes hold wisdom, and his mouth seems to be touched with an eternal smile. His raven black hair is slicked back and hangs to his shoulders. His dashing good looks are matched by his charisma, and he carries himself with a hint of arrogance. He is commonly dressed in black pants and a dark purple dress shirt. And its rare to see him without his black leather duster. He wears a pair of well made black boots with silver buckles, around his waist is a studded leather belt that matches the boots, hanging low, and to the left is his firearm. Around his neck is a simple hand-made neclace that seems to draw the eyes, but only because it looks out of place on the well dressed and charming young man. His knives are hidden on himself, one in each boot, and one in each sleave of his duster. His datapad rests in a pocket inside of his duster, specifically designed for it.

Background: Sammel was born to an insignificant little town in the mountains of Tython. Growing up, he could barely wait to go to move to the big city to live a life of excitement. Within weeks of arriving in the city of Kaleth, he had ammassed a small fortune in the casinos. His seemingly talent for reading others brought him to the attention of a local Ashla Mystic. In the following months, Sammel learned much about himself, and even more about his natural abilities. As his master taught him, he found that he turned his talents less to his own gain, and more to helping others. Thats not to say he's against making a few credits in an honest game of cards, . . .

Looks a terrific PC to me. I'll come back to the background but at first glance seems fine, I'll create an addition to Ashla PC backgrounds in the game introduction that set the scene of the game start. Nicely done.

Keep in mind I'm still furiously writing trying to get everything ready for the Players already involved to help equip and tailor themselves for the game start. You'll be free to edit and modify as I complete some more entries in the Tech and Ashla threads. Mundane gear will be in the Tech thread and Ashla specialised stuff in the Ashla/Bogan thread. Still working on some stuff for the Players to option and tailor themselves for...

Oh with the DSP question, it will have to be played in the specific occasion. Your scholastic knowledge suggests that it can be fine but there are certain conditions a DSP is warranted. But you would have a pretty good idea at the time as it was played out, whether or not you picked up on the cues that will always clearly accompany DSP threats, will be up to character choice at the time, or how distracted he chooses to be regarding those cues...

Fair enough. The character is going to enjoy winning, but it wont be worth earning a DSP for.

The introductory/playtesting Prologue story hook is up, players can jump into it as their characters are completed, posted and confirmed. Some armour choices are up too, in the tech thread.

Is Sammel good to go? Or are there any other issues that I need to resolve before playing him?

A Few thoughts about my player:

A. Equipment regarding Armor. I guess he would be wearing a Jed'aii battle armour, regading the fact that he will probably meet Alien Species that probably have dangerous technology, so as an Ashlan he would be equipped accordingly.
As Headgear I would like to wear some kind of customized Sonic dampening headgear. Since the Miraluka constantly wear something to "hide" their eyes, yet still can see without much problem, as long as the force is present, I would like my character to wear some kind of mask (like Revan was doing), that would consist of 3 pieces:
1. The Visor (the middle one), that is hiding his eyes and that he would wear nearly all the time
2. & 3. addition pieces that would cover the rest of the Face (one for the part below the eyes, hiding nose and mouth and one that would fit on top of the Visor, covering the forehead

The additional pieces (2 & 3) he would mostly use only to work in conjunction with some kind of headgear or helmet (like Sonic dampening headgear or the concussion helmet).

Would that be ok or possible at all?

2. Backstory.
Personally, I consider myself a horrible Story writer, so I'm not really good with writing backstorys. But I will try anyway, just keep that in mind ^^

The Backstory of my char would go something like this:

Aaron Marr is a Miraluka born on the adopted homeworld Alpheridies. As all Miraluka, he was sensitive to the force and was trained in the use of it based on the traditions of the Miraluka. At first, he succeded, but it was apperently that ways of healing others was very difficult, nearly impossible to him, since he couldn't get the hang of influenceing the force in others, neither in objects, nor in living beings.
Nonetheless, we could be considered a good hunter. As a kid, when playing hide and seek with the other kids in the settlement, he was always one of the hardest to find and yet was able to find the other kids rather fast. Those abilities improved with age, and he became an accomplished hunter.
Yet, he was unsatisfied with his current situation. The shamanistic ways of the Miraluka concentrated heavily on the way of healing, which he couldn't get the grasp on. Also, he wanted to see other worlds, explore the unexplored. So one day, when an Ashlan of the Jed'aii visited the settlement, he asked him to be able to become his apprentice, so that he could learn from the Ashlan, learn different ways of the force and, one day, be able to see other, unexplored Worlds.
The Ashlan agreed, so Aaron joined the Jed'aii to become an Ashlan. He was trained in the Ashlan Swordsmanship, as well as the Ashlan Philosophy and their ways of the Force.
Since the Jed'aii are named like the two gods that are worshipped in Miraluka Religion, Ashla and Bogan, Aaron researched in his spare time about the Religion of his homeworld, often comparing the philosophies of the Jed'aii and the Miraluka when meditating.

I hope that story is ok and doesn't conflict with anything you had in mind regarding the world and time we play in (and hopefully, I havn't forgotten to read anything that you already posted and would stay in conflict with what I wrote ^^).
Aaron might be an Ancestor of Visas Marr or something like that, I just find it hard to make up family names, so i'm just gonna go with those I know. I hope thats ok.

So, if everything is approved, I would update my character post in the Completed Character thread with the backstory and the changed equipment.
So if anyone has any suggestions or issues with what I wrote, just say so Smile

Just noticed something I missed on your PC sheet, the specialisation for melee parry skill is parrying against specific weapon types, not with a specific weapon type. So melee parry: sword means you use this value only when parrying someone who is using a sword against you (no need to specify the maker of the sword or even specific swordtype, I'm letting all unpowered swords use the one specialisation).
For melee combat: sword specialisation however, of course you use this value when you're using any unpowered sword.

The Jed'aii battle armour is a special item given under certain, rare conditions. You have to gain one through gameplay.
PCs can freely select a basic/general armour type, link armour for battlearmour, otherwise concussion vest/helmet. Even Flex armour would have to be obtained through gameplay but is available enough to be secured fairly quickly.

One thing however, PCs will start at Koros Major and if you begin in the Prologue thread you can make your way to Cinnagar City and purchase a Cinnagar Warsuit. That's probably about the best starting armour readily available for starting characters. But starting credits are becoming an issue, and you have to buy one of those because you were equipped back on Tython.

But really we have to consider that you're starting with an array of equipment, the Ahsla Longsword is already a special item, and priceless. The sniper rifle plus a little personal equipment is already about 1000cr, before adding a concussion vest (another 500cr), and you should keep 100cr or so for spending cash...

You can surely find more credits during gameplay, but starting off we just need a little balance. How about you delete the concussion vest and hang onto say, 1,000 credits (a big purse for an Ashla missionary), keep the other equipment, and have a look around Koros and Cinnagar City at some armour/equipment shops and see what you can afford.

As for a faceplate/helmet, hold off on the helmet for the moment but as you don't need a visor you can easily have your breathmask/filter custom moulded into a Revan-style faceplate minus visor (still fully covering your face). Then you can attach that to whatever armour/helmet you buy later, in the meantime it'll look pretty trick under a Jedi-style hooded robe over some decent casuals with good freedom of movement. You can be wearing a breathmask all the time basically (protection from all Type II atmospheres). You can start with that no problem.

Mostly starting with the Ashla sword is a really big special item bonus already, that's what I'm getting at.

Oh and firearms repair/maintenance toolkit is no problem (contains gun-oil, spare springs, cleaning equipment and minor parts, fine tools, snaps shut in a small case that fits on a belt).

I'm also going to make a couple of points about his background, but give me a few minutes to write them out and post.

Okay, Aaron would have to be born on Tython to start at Koros Major with the rest of the Ashla PCs...to be an Ashla as opposed to a Miraluka Mystic (no sword).

For continuity, it's best his great grandparents went on pilgrimage to Tython on a generation ship from the planet Notron, which took centuries. Their parents wound up on Notron because Rakata took them from Alpheridies in a slave ship. Rakata need Force sensitive starship mechanics because their vessels used Force-artefact hyperdrive technology, regular mechanics couldn't work on them.

Otherwise you can't really get from Alpheridies to Tython within a lifetime prior to gameplay, for period reasons.

Now you don't have to write all that in background, up to you, but those would be the logically consistent points to keep in mind when writing the background. Born on Tython, parents born on a starship on the way to Tython, as were grandparents, great-grandparents were the ones who embarked that journey from Notron, which is a human world. So another point is your family has been used to hanging around with regular humans for generations. And you've been among Force using humans for generations because mostly Force sensitive people made the pilgrimage to Tython.

Thus the short Ashla history I posted under the scholar: Ashla philosophies description in the Ashla/Bogan thread, is roughly the style Aaron was instructed. And not so much by a personal instructor as an apprentice, but more with an enclave and taught by a number of instructors.

Think of a Kung Fu dojo and being part of a class, then adventuring out among the wilderness of Tython, avoiding dangerous beasts (which use the Force to hunt him), and dangerous natives (violent stone age semi-sentients that love a bit of cannibalism), and doing dungeon crawls for little items like Force-crystals for the enclaves, solving disputes in the community, finding someone's lost little girl, chasing off some local louts, all sorts of regular low level adventurer stuff.

Ok, gonna change some things then. I honestly don't really know what kind of equipment would be apropriate, since i havn't really played the SW D6 game yet (we only recently formed a group and have played once ^^).

So how about the following:

Longsword (normal one), Sniper Rifle (unloaded), 2 Ammo Clips, Breathmask (covering the whole Face), Blindfold (for when he doesn't wear the mask), 2 dehydrated rations, a ptp-link and a firearms repair/maintanance toolkit (gun-oil, spare springs, cleaning equipment and minor parts, fine tools, snaps shut in a small case that fits on a belt) as well as some basic attire (Jedi style Robe and some underwear (we shouldn't forget those Razz)).

I would then change the specialization to Melee Combat: Sword and Melee Parry: Sword (this time knowing that it would only help against other sowrd users, but since being trained in one, my incstuctors would most likely use those two, so it would be most likely that he could parry those better then other weapons).

Concerning the Background, I'm just gonna write it down then in a kind of "Facts about Aaron" kind of stile ^^

New Background:
Aaron was born on Tython, shortly after his parents arrived there from a long trip from Notron, a planet that his parents have never seen, since his great grandparents went on a pilgrimage to Tython from Notron.
As a kid, Aaron was always good at playing hide & seek with the other kids in the Settlement he lived in. Like all Miraluka, he also was senstive, using the force to perceive his environment, since he would be blind without that ability.
He was instructed in an enclave, trained in Marksmenship the use of a Longsword. His abilities to hide and find hidden things made him a good scout, thus he was often used to find specific things like Force-crystals for the enclaves, or even persons like runaway children, as well as his normal duties as an Ashlan.

Does that all sound better?

I updated the Post in the Completed chars only thread and made one further adjustment:
I cleared the specialization for Miraluka Religion and in exchange increase firearms repai by one pip.

Edit:
Two more adjustments:
I removed "Enhance Attribut" and "Force of Will" and instead got "Remove Fatigue" and "Hibernation Trance".

Getting sleepy while in the middle of nature with beast around you that might sense you htanks to the force would not be a good thing ^^

And if you have traveled at least once in carbon-freeze hibernation and wake up like that, and you are proficient with Control, you definitely would get Hibernation Trance ^^

Edit2:
One further question. Does the Power "Ashlan Swordsmanship" work with ordinary Longswords or only with the Ashlan Swords?

Background sounds fine, don't forget to change melee specialisations to just: sword Wink

I hadn't actually considered using Ashla Swordsmanship with non-Force tempered weapons but you've got a point and I will ammend the power.
Yes you can use Ashla Swordsmanship with any other sword but you do not get any damage qualities (it will just do normal melee damage), and if you attempt to parry ranged attacks the weapon you're using will have to roll item damage against the attack before it is parried (using rules for hiding behind cover), most swords have an item strength of 2D so you wouldn't want to parry anything but the weakest weapons with one or you'll take damage even if you make the parry.
You do however, get the Sense dice pooling with melee combat/parry skills when using any kind of sword with Ashla Swordsmanship.

Conclusion: when Ashla Swordsmanship power is up, if using any kind of sword other than an Ashla Longsword, you only get the Sense bonus and probably shouldn't parry high-powered ranged attacks. You do not get any damage enhancement and the weapon strikes as a normal sword, doing physical damage normally.

Burst of Speed requires Enhance Attribute to take. You can swap it for another Control power or change one of your other Control powers to Enhance Attribute.

For equipment, as a guideline:
Tailor the following to your tastes, modify their appearance or you can swap individual items for something similar, or a similar credit value. On top of this you can freely equipe yourself with minor personal items without restriction, so long as they're appropriate to your PC background. In your case he seems to be similar to the Jedi-Shadow archetype.
I'll give some alternate suggestions to work with:

Suggested Equipment (1): vibroblade with belt-clipped large powercell (Str+3D physical), silenced 9mm sniper rifle/carbine (4D physical, 20rds), small energy cell (backup for vibroblade), spare ammo clip (20rds), custom faceplate breathmask, ptp-link, med-aid, gun repair/maintenance toolkit, 2x dehydrated rations, nightblacked robes/attire (circumstantial +1D hide skill at ranges further than 10 metres in dark/shadowy areas if motionless, does not add to sneak), 150 credits standard {note: these are nova-chips in cash and not electronic-chip using a datapad}.

Suggested Equipment (2): change vibroblade for normal longsword (Str+2D) and instead of nightblacked robes add Camo Scout Armour (+1D vs physical, camofield gives +1D hide if motionless but does not add to sneaky movement), spare energy cell (for the camofield, it requires power to function). Keep other equipment.

Suggested Equipment (3): swap both vibroblade and rifle for an Ashlan Longsword.

Suggested Equipment (4): keep vibroblade, swap rifle for Link Mesh Armour (+2/+1D, -1D) {note that armour can be custom worn with an integrated robe so they will look like "armoured robes" but written down something like "armoured robes: link mesh armour (+2/+1D, -1D dex)"}

Suggested Equipment (5): normal longsword, keep other equipment in (1), 1,200 credits (will buy armour on his adventures), or give up the rifle as well for say 2,300 credits.

These are all approximate guidelines, vary and tailor them a little to suit tastes or come up with your own, just no diamond encrusted helmets worth half a million credits, etc.
Very Happy
etc.
