The method I've mutated into is:

-Base Award of 1 CP per two hours of play.

Double this session's CP if the PCs successfully completed the mission
Quarter this session's if the PCs failed the mission.

Adjusted up or down by 50% for each PC based on things like roleplaying.



The results are pretty close to what the RAW recommends, as opposed to what you get if you tally up all the categories. Plus it handles shorter or longer adventures without being over generous or stingy.
