Are there any pieces of gear from all the equipment books you find are broken? Such as Smasher armor NOT being a powersuit and thus requiring Power suit ops? Or Do you feel the movement given by Grav boots are a bit much??

I never saw rules for these, but the most "broken" weapons we ever used (I guess the GM just house-ruled them) were disruptors.

If I remember correctly, in our games, they were (usually) pistols (rarely rifles) that did 8D damage and could not be blocked by a lightsaber. I think they only ever came up in two or three campaigns in all the years I've played.

I know this probably isn't what you were looking for, re: posts on broken equipment, but re: how to address certain broken game mechanics in equipment, I was always curious: how do you handle tools whose effects and/or successes were seen over time.

Say, for example, you have the droid L3-37 and her circular saw, which does 4D damage. L3-37's saw, in a game scenario and on-screen, cuts through the gate of an impound lot, whose bars have greater than 4D strength -- but she needs to do this over time. How would you reflect this in game terms? Or is it just that the saw's damage roll needs to inflict the proper damage via a high roll?

IIRC in situations like that, each 'additional round' of cutting, acts like they were combined.. So 2 rounds cutting +1d, 4 rounds, +2d, 10 rounds, +4d or something like that.

Is there a rule for it?

I could have sworn I ran into some cutting tool that did +1D for every round it remained in contact with the surface it was cutting, achieving the effect of cutting through most anything given enough time. I'll have to take another look though.

Ah, awesome. Thank you, guys. I vaguely remember seeing that write-up on a piece of equipment as well.

Just searched the equipment compilation book to no avail, but will continue looking.

Where would you cap the dice bonus gain?

So far, the only time i've seen it crop up in game, was with a Fellow player's R2 unit, both were EVA, along with me and 2 other pilots after having to eject. A gamma shuttle had come close, and we attached to it, and were using the R2 to try and cut a way in.. The DM capped the extra damage at +4d iirc.. Basically 2 scale shifts up..
