"Not to sound like I am looking to shy away from a fight, Lieutenant, but what are these other assignments?" Garolf asks. "I'm sure many of us would be willing to stay here and fight. Though I'm not certain how well the Chance would hold up. Mr. Kkak is a highly efficent mechanic and has done an excellent job repairing her. But I do not know what external damage the Chance took that he couldn't repair while we were in hyperspace. Still, she's probably more ready for combat than Sub-Lt. Valimar's fighter. If we stay and fight, we may have to be surface combatants at this point.

"It would be nice to at least know what the other assignments are. If there are more survivors out there that need someone to rescue them or if the New Republic needs someone to go behind the lines and try to sabotage the Vong's war effort, these would also be important as defending Ithor."

Garolf looks over at Rownn before speaking again.

"As I said, I am not planning to shy away from a fight. If defending Ithor is deemed the most important thing we can do, then I am ready to do so and am willing to go down to one of the Ithorian herdships and fight off the attackers. But I don't want to merely stay if there is something we can do to help either save those who have come under attack by these Vong already or if we can possibly slow down there advance."

The hungry, eager glint in Rownn's eyes subsides as Garolf speaks. When he's finished, Rownn's expression is thoughtful as he looks up again over to Garolf, "Akooahwhao aoraorwowh."
.Point taken.

Zinn pipes up. "My space combat skills lie primarily with X-wings. Should mine be repaired in time, we'll stick with the Chance. We ARE her escort, and will fulfill that duty for as long as we're able. However, I am also capable in melee combat, so if we're needed in that capacity I can assist there as well. Wherever we're needed most, we should go. We need to help as many as possible, especially with the rate at which these Vong are gobbling up systems."

Orrallyn looks around as everyone talks, when there is a lull,

"Gand would like to help, but Gand isn't very good with ship to ship combat. Gand would better used on a ground force mission or ship boarding party. Gand would also like to talk to someone from the Jedi praxium."

Tiny glances around knowing his the nature of his eyes should prevent most people from knowing what he's doing None of us seemed much good at shooting those vong ships out of the sky, and by the looks of the team we're better at boarding actions or ground assults than in the sky... Hey didn't the snakeman have some sort of pay bonus based on how many vong were killed. I hope someone remembers that and asks for it, on his behalf. Frelling cowardly serpant.

"We can get you a new ship if you choose to stay and fight" he replies to Zinn

I will see what I can do, but I believe that most of the here is occupied with the events unfolding below.

Sekel nods and says "Yes, I understand. We have no bead on survivors anywhere at the moment, as we do not believe that they take prisoners. But you are correct in assuming that we need someone to go behind the scene to prepare for a counter assault. We have a planet in mind. Without giving too much details to you for security reasons, the planet in question has an old mountain base on it. It was converted to a museum a while back, then was closed a few years ago. We believe that there still may be some functioning equipment within that you could use to mount a proper defence, until a secondary landing party arrives." he pauses for a second before continuing. "Another assignment is a bit more underhanded. There is a faction of beings from this galaxy which have started to band together, and are trying to win the favour of the invaders. They have been sending intel, goods and the like but we do not know what they are up to. So since you are more informal military, you should be able to find a way to gain entry. You job would be to get in, and send us intel about them as you receive it. This will probably be a long term mission, as once you are it, it would be wise of you to remain in position."
He takes another pause while he takes a ship of his drink and says "We also have a less combat intensive mission. You would be assisting in the evacuation of refugees on planets with an impending threat of assault. Organizing, providing cover for retreating ships, that sort of thing. You would be behind the lines of combat, so just potential pirates to deal with."

He looks over the group about to continue and his com beeps. He whispers a few things into it and says "I will be back shortly, you have this time to discuss what kind of mission you wish to do, and what you wish to do with your reward." He tosses the datapad to Garolf and says "here is a list of potential upgrades and their cost". With that he walks out of the room, closing the door behind him

[list to come]

Rownn listens carefully as Sekel outlines the other possible missions. As he leaves the room, Rownn folds his lanky arms across his chest and leans back in his chair, his expression thoughtful, weighing the options.

"Being a 'loose military unit,'" Zinn says frankly, "I think it might be wiser to avoid missions where we're not going to be able to leave in a hurry if we need to. Yeah, we need to develop some better cohesion as a team, but I think the fact we survived says we can pull it off. I personally think we'll do better if we're able to be versatile."

Garolf takes the datapad and sets it down for all in the team to see then sits back and considers the missions that have been mentioned.

"Okay, to state the obvious, which I'm sure each of you can figure out on your own without my saying any of this, looks like we have four options available to us, folks. First, we stay here and fight in defense of Ithor. Depending on the Chance's condition, we may be able to use it for space combat, but most likely we'd all be better off trying to fight these Vong face to face. Keep in mind that in our first face to face encounter with them those of us actually facing their ground troops were each wounded in some way and we just barely won.

"Option two, we defend the mountain in the hopes it has some equipment that could help win the war. The problem is, we will be asked to hold it until more forces arrive. From the sounds of things, it sounds similar to the one of the kinds of missions I was trained to preform. Capture and hold the beachhead until the main force arrives. And that's where the problem comes into this one, pathfinder units could only holdout so long if not reinforced in a timely manner. If they were not reinforced, they tended to be slaughtered. We're a small unit, so we could face that very same fate. However, if there is indeed equipment inside that could turn the tide of this war, and even improve our chances of holding our positions, then it may be worth it.

"Option three, the colaborators. Nothing worse than traitors in your midst. These beings are pure scum in my opinion. Getting into their ranks and feeding back info on them, maybe even actively working to hurt their war efforts, could be a serious help to our war effort. But at the same time, we'll be spies. If they discover us, they'll doubtlessly kill us. Worse, we may be called upon to fire on our own. If we do so and kill New Republic troops, then the New Republic will have a reason both to not trust us and want us dead. Andif we don't carry out the orders of this scum, then they will doubtlessly become suspicious of us and learn the truth.

"Finally, option four is to evac refugees. Very noble as it gets innocents out of the line of fire. Only a few of us are actually active duty military, so this may be a a good mission for us for now. However, evacing refugees also means taking some folks off the line who could be helping to stop the threat of these invaders."

Garolf looks around at the others to see what their opinions are.

Orrallyn doesn't move over to Garolf and the datapad. He just sits there.

Ooc: trying to see how many jedi are in the area, taking time, meditation and concentration.

Tiny does his best vacant stare impression as he evaluates the choices in his own mind. Choice number three is my favourite

Rylah will consider all she's heard for a while, before she starts to speak.

"I've no formal military training, so I don't know how good I'll be in a fight, especially when those of you who've had training have come out injured.

My preference would be for evacuating those who need it, to save lives, and to let others who can fight more effectively, do so, instead of having to escort those fleeing.

I will, however, go along with what the majority of the group decide."
