What I meant was that the party might be taken directly to Imperial Palace, since they'd go before the Emperor. And of course, where he's at, security is at also.

My group tried that trick (see the post "Benny the Tusken Raider") on a remote Imperial outpost. I just had the troopers get off a transmission back to the base that they were under attack. When they got back into the base, the commander had them remove their helmets. And the fact that a Rodian and a Zabrak were under those helemets landed them in the detention area.

That'll work... ESPECIALLY if you don't tell the party that a transmission was successfully sent. That way they'll have a nasty little surprise awaiting them at base... hehehe Twisted Evil

And it really messes them up, if they see the base doing things they weren't before...

Exactly. It's like real life: You can outrun a cop, but you can't outrun Motorola!

I think about this sometimes, and I can't help but conclude that the Star Wars galaxy is rather lacking in information and communication technology. Sometimes I think an entity the size of the Empire should have better police!

Luke and Han were totally caught when they were questioned by an Imperial officer at the detention center. Hence the whole "I wasn't notified." and "Boring Conversation anyway" mess.
No one's going to question stormtroopers just walking around, but when they get to a secure checkpoint they'll have to give the daily password and go through security procedures. Of course if the day officer's a lazy tard, as most Imperial officers are, then they won't have a problem. I'd say the procedures would require a Law Enforcement or similiar check, and of course, you'll have to Con your way out of a situation when you mess up.

Why do you think the empire lasted less than 30 years?

TarlSS's comment makes me realize... Han Solo botched quite a few rolls during the trilogy...

1) Death Star detention center conversation. Botched Con roll.
2) Endor mission stepped on a twig. Botched Sneak roll.
3) Endor mission slicing the bunker blast doors. Botched Computer Ops roll?

Any more? I mean real botches. A "1 on the wild die" type situation, not mere failure.

Penalty, and complication. Penalty just means you lose the wild and one highest die from the total. Complication creates added problems.

Don't want to get too of subject with this. But I have a question.

How would the rest of you handle a character who openly wears Storm Trooper Armor in an Urban Camo pattern. Just wears it as day to day wear.
Bounty Hunter character who has ex-stormtrooper in his background and spent more than the black market price to have this armor.

Number 3 would have been a botched Security roll.

Chewbacca botched a Droid Repair roll on 3PO in Ep5 (put him together backwards).
Artoo botched a Computer Prog/Rep in Cloud City (mistook a power outlet for a terminal)
Jar Jar botched every single thing he ever tried to do.

Anyone wearing stormtrooper armor around is asking for trouble. Possession of Stormtrooper armor by unauthorized personell is a capital offense in the Empire. If they see you with it, you're busted.

A couple different ways... If he's laying down that kind of creds, there are enough mods he can make to the armor to make it not appear quite so Imperial-issue. If he's paying top-dollar, then it's only fair that he get top-notch work, and the benefits that go with.

If he's just trying to cheap his way through, however, then you can have your way with him. Make him have to make high Con rolls in order to convince that squad of troopers that he's really a new, secret type of stormtrooper, hand-picked because of his scores at the Caridan training academy or something. Otherwise, they open fire or something. This character might bring a LOT of unwanted Imperial entanglements upon the group for insisting on wearing this armor; he'd better have it HIGHLY modified- and that means altering the outward appearance more than anything. He might be able to get away with most of the actual body armor part of it intact, but he's absolutely going to have to have a different helmet- or at least make such modifications to the helmet that it LOOKS like it was salvaged and made into something else. Anything that looks too much like the original ought to bring about some serious consequences, IMO.

Ok, now how about this.

Is is New Republic era, little more than a year after Thrawn has died, the empire holds less then 10% of the galaxy, and the man wearing trooper armor is on Ord Mantell.
