What's more fun to play, a hero or villian?

My vote is for hero. I think it's more interesting and challenging to play a character that "takes the road less travelled".

Haven't really played a true villan in Star Wars, but i think it would be fun to play one, i mean having to save the innocent bystanders and do the right thing gets kind of old.

I like the hero side, although what's a hero without some personal angst?
My last character was a jedi that I had played for close to 3 years. In the end the majority of the party (5 out of 7) turned to the dark side. My character felt it was his duty to bring them back, or die trying. I was considered the most powerful jedi in the group, and the most reckless (got my first darkside point by straffing the main road in Mos Eisly with my A wing, just to blast a few Imps). I had managed to stave off the Dark side for quiet awhile. I was sitting on 5 DS points and hated the fact that they made me more powerful and hence reigned in my usage of them. In the end just by turning up to their base of operations I was able to get 3 characters back, but I had to kill the ringleader before the last one came back.

So Hero characters for me, but there has to be that struggle.

well one reason some people like villians more is because it is easier to be evil as apposed to doing the right thing all the time.

i like conquering villiages with an army of undead!

i think that was the only truly evil character i've ever played, except for the nagai, and he was taken away Sad

I would think playing a hero or villian to be equally challenging depending on the time period.
Hero during the trilogy, villian during the New Republic era.
But that's me.

Generaly it's easier to play good characters, and it is also a good way to get force points. Also it has been fun to play dark jedi characters because you don't have to play by the "rules of combat" or even care about what's in your way. I think that people who do what they think they should do are the best, because they really just do whatever they wnat to.

but being evil is easier because you only have to care about yourself. as long as you are smart you can make an easy living being evil in the star wars universe.

Hero all the way! If I wanted to see evil, I'd watch the news...

Heroes and Villains can both be challenging. But they can both also be fodder for stereotyping, over-the-top acting, and one-dimensional play.

I have had characters that were both at one time or another (even both simultaneously on rare occasions), and I just like a good story to let my character unfold as I see it.

Choice! That is the real catalyst of the different characters. There must be a conscious decision made by the player, through the character, that affects not only that individual's life, but the paths of all the other player characters.

A really good GM may pi$$ you off, but if you can honestly say, "I never expected that," then they did their job. If you can see the story unfold and fall limp like toilet paper streamers on a soggy willow tree, then where is the desire?

But then again, I enjoy angst and conflict. Makes for good play.
