I like to experiment with different character ideas. I think I've played a good female character. I find, and Crell agrees, that guys play females either as too stand offish or too sleezy. At least in our group.
I have no clue how women play male characters.

A guy in our old group played a female character for a while. He played her as having a LOT of attitude!

I would think it to be rare to find a female player that plays a male.

Same percentage as a male playing a female I'd wager.

How long did that last?

playing the opposite sex takes some serious skill because it usually ends up being weird.

I think he actually used her for a fairly long time (probably quite a few months, can't remember exactly, was quite a while ago). He did a pretty good job of playing her, too.

A friend of mine played a female character for a while untill he killed himself with a grenade launcher and a giant bomb (he was never very good), but he was a Trianii, so it makes more sense.

It seems that more women play male characters than men play female characters (I wounder what Freud would think of this). It seems like that when men play female characters that they are allways this: Bosy, tough, nosey, and quite capable. However, sometimes they do swimg the opposit way, reversing those attitudes.

A few weeks I've started to play a NPC that was made to be a "wife/mate" for a character that died. She got a few of the things that this legacy character had. The money went to the young though. It's been different, but still entertaining, since a female trandoshan, can have some of the inherit female qualities, but still very warlike species.

What do you think is the best species to play, if you are going to start out as a female?

that's an interesting question, it really depends on the player, and what sorts of personality traits he wants the character to have Smile and what sorts of specialties the player wants for his/her character

Triani, Falleen, or Hapan. That's my opinion, though.

Start with your own species, human. It's the simplest character to deal with, male or female. But that is, of course, my opinion.
