They can be names you came up with, or not.

A lame one I came up with was Ronnie Redshirt. The funny part is, he hasn't yet died a violent death.

The lamest one I've seen in a comic book was Master Bayts. I kid you not. Dark Horse should be ashamed.

Well, we've had lots of Bobs. They don't last long, though....

In a Lord of the Rings game, there was a dwarf soldier NPC with the party. Since he was terribly unimportant, I didn't name him, cause I was sure he'd die right away. When the players asked me his name, I told them not to bother. However, that dwarf soldier kept surviving the encounters, and the players kept asking me what his name was. I told them I wasn't going to name him. So, they started calling him "He who shall not be named". The name stuck, and in time they shortened it to "He who". And so, when he survived his 3rd adventure, I decided to give in and named him "Hewho", which is actually quite a nice name for a dwarf.

He died a gruesome death soon afterwards.

Playing in a DND game we have a board to keep our initive on and we put the characters name on it. Well my best friend was in the marine corps so next to his name on the board read USMC (United States Marine Corp)
My marine buddie was back on leave and pencil whiping a character to join in the game

Well my dumb brother looks up at the board and states rather loudly like my brother does who the hells name is as he said it USMIC and from that day forth the fighter named USMIC was imortalized (Well after about 10 minutes of laughfing and telling my brother what a Dumb A$$ he was)

Weirdest I've seen in a novel is "Admiral Trey David" from Visions of the Future. David? Why not Peter, or Steven, or Albert?

Or maybe Chuck.

In my former long-running campaign, one of the force-using PCS was named Cackin Bwallz.

Hated that name through years and years of playing.

Not Star Wars I know, but for Buffy: The Role-playing game my latest character is a Japanese schoolgirl based on GoGo from Kill Bill called Mei Chu Kouni, Chu-ey for short. Had everyone in stitches for the first session. Needless to say other silly ones popped up.....Mouphie Dypher etc.

I mentioned this elsewhere but there was a wookie in one of our campaings that was named Leroy and had an affro - just on his head : )

Then there was a young Jedi character named Nike. No matter how much the player insisted that he was named after the Greek god of victory everybody called him Rebok. Why a Star Wars character would be named after a Greek god still eludes me...

Nike was actually a goddess as well, so a bad choice all around.

Worst DnD character - Liam of the Fromage (French for "cheese")\
Star Wars - Ghuycherd (everyone just called him "gay hard.") And I got it from an on-line name generator and everything!

My DnD group has a notorious habit of naming NPC fighters "meat-shield." Even when I give the NPC a name they insist on calling the fighter Meatshield in character.

As for the worst name in a Star Wars game, a GM a few years back named his villain Lord Darkstar.

I don't know, were their team winning all the time? And could the character run and fly fast? If so, then maybe the winged goddess of victory was a good choice for a name.

Of course Nike was also the name of a rocket booster used in both sounding rockets and missiles. So maybe the character had an "uplifting" personality.

I was referring more to the gender being off.

I had a few crazy ones in my games such as "Bleef Snarniggle" and "Eep" but the worst, by FAR, has to be the name a friend of mine picked for his Shadowrun character.

The players in my game were named Dan, Max and Brian. Brian, after much thought, decided to name his character "Dan Maxwell". We all just sighed and died a little bit inside
