I really like this idea. As you will see, I like playing all kinds of characters - but every one of them is a hero:

Volar the Healer; Jedi Knight
Cruelty: none
Loyalty: total
Passion: low (except where his wife and/or droids are concerned)
Piety: total (as in religious fanatic)
Sanity: total
Selfishness: none

LCDR Simass (Iceman); Rebel fighter pilot & squadren leader
Cruelty: low
Loyalty: high
Passison: average (but concealed)
Piety: average
Sanity: average (most of the time)
Selfishness: average (except where awards are concerned)

Max; ex-table of 13 assasin
Cruelty: high
Loyalty: high
Passion: none
Piety: low (but improving)
Sanity: average
Selfishness: high

A hero... I suppose if he uses his complete lack of morals for good instead of evil and is loyal to somone/thing that is good he's a hero. But a character like that isn't really a hero. They're more what I like to call a villian who just happens to be doing good things.

Their reasons aren't usually heroic. It's more "I'm saving your life because I get paid to... and incidentially doing so involved my killing of a number of your enemies" and not "Princess, thank god you're OK. Don't worry I'll save you"

Actually it's not an uncommon character and I quite like to play that sort of character myself. In some games (D&D for example) simply walking into the ork invested wilderness and slaughtering orks would make you a hero of sorts... Even if all the orks were just sitting arround their camp and not actively being evil per se.

Hero-"I've just killed 500 Orks, here are their heads to prove it"

Local lord- "Well Orks are bad so killing them is good although no Orks have been raiding my lands you have stopped that possibilty from arrising. I declare you to be a hero of these lands"

Hero- "Great... Anything else to kill it's great fun killing"

Local lord- "Ummmm I hear there are some ogres in those caves why don't you try over there"

I don't know...if he's an ex-assassin, that may be looking for redemption of an extremly cruel act (such as killing your target but also killing the kid that was with the target) may be quite a good charater to play, just imagine the guilt you could put on a character like that as a GM. 8)

Exactly so. The assasin bit is background. I wanted to play a dark character working toward being good. This gives an explanation for some of his skills - skills which don't usually get used in our campaign.

As I stated earlier, I always tend to have a “darker” edge to my characters in any game.
But that’s one thing about Star Wars; you have to be cautious as to the degree the “dark” aspect of a charter is played. Star Wars is a game of absolutes, and that does not bode well for the player of an antihero. But redemption is always a cool thing…hell; the entire Star Wars series of films is about Vader, his rise, his fall and his redemption.

Very cool thing this "psychological profile"! Included it in my custom character sheet right now.

Cheers
