I agree, maybe you could create a custom Creature Handling knowledge skill.

a couple of my players just hatched some made up monitor lizards from naboo that they hunted but found the eggs. they made really nice enclosures for them on the ship they say they want to keep them around to indimidate prisoneers when questioning "oh you don't want to talk eh? well lets go see what Larry Moe and Curly have to say about that!?"-opens the door to the big lizards rooms.

right now they just a type of gold fish. i haven't made them completly up as far as a creature template goes but when i do i'll post it somewhere.

This are the stats and background data for Bitey's species

Marauders

These small lizards (1 metre long) live in small communities where the edges of the jungles meet the swamps. For the most part, they leave the Rebel base alone. However, when feeding has been a little slow they work up the courage to slink into the base. Primarily they look for scraps amongst the prefab buildings (the marauders are omnivours, but prefer meat whenever they can get it) but will attack sentient beings if pressed. They can be very quiet when necessary but screech when hurt.

Dexterity 3d
Unarmed Combat 4d

Perception 4d
Sneak 5d

Strength 2d
Teeth: 4d damage

Move: 15

The marauders have small numbers but will never attack alone. There will be 3-6 of them on any encounter. When at least half their number is killed, then the others will slink off hissing angrily.

I've always wanted one of my characters to have a small pet, kind of like a weasel or a cat. I just think that would be really cool! Or better yet, a big bird! Just imagine a falcon being able to hold a camera.

I once let a pirate PC get one of the Socorran Tailrings (Also known as Socorran Sand Dragons)

It was always perched on her shoulder almost like a parrot. Helped em out in a jam or two, as well.

Well having pets certainly does make the game interesting.

Tip. if you don't want your pets to get fat and unhealthy don't ship large amounts of candy... it only leads to trouble.

Especially the sour huts and gummy vaders

And remember to keep the Freighter well stocked with Papers.

If the creature is Paper-Trained, that is. Hopefully, it is, otherwise...
