Seeing Tiny calm down a bit, Garolf points to the map.
"Let's not comepltely rule out avalanche just yet. Bit of a grade here so it might not be the best place for an LZ. However, it could be used for a DZ."

OOC: Non Tiny civilian again
"We're in a mountain Sir, I'm not sure we have much in the way of flat surfaces suitable for a landing zone. The hanger or the cave where the Chance landed are probably our best choices."
OOC2: Edited due to correction about the Second Chance's location. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Garolf looks up at the civie and then back to the map.
"Ideas are being thrown out and hammered around," he says at last. "With luck everything will be in place to give the Vong a rather unpleasant surprise. Could use a few thousand more defenders and some heavy armor, but I've seen instances where a couple platoons proved rather devestating to a larger enemy force. Both Alliance, and later New Republic, and Imperial. So it's not impossible with what we have here for man power. And it's not as if we're waging a campaign with the people here, with a lot of luck we win a battle before reinforcements arrive. But mostly we hold until relieved. And we will be relieved."
He doesn't look up at the man, hoping none of the rest of the team point out how deadly that's going to be. The civilians may be ready to fight, but how long reinforcements take to arrive could well cause moral to drop to the point where folks may be willing to give in.
(OOC: In question to what I'm taking to be Esoomian's non-Tiny questions (spoken too well to be Tiny), does any of the team no about how big the incoming craft are going to be? I figure Tiny, Rownn, Garolf Orrallyn, Zinn, Hrar, Jo, Rylah, or all of them might have some idea to answer the guy.) _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

The team is not sure, but you can guess standard landing craft. At worst bulk transports. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Garolf looks up at the individual asking about what's landing.
"Command didn't see fit to grant us details on exactly what they'll be landing. I'd be figuring on something at least the size of a bulk freighter. Probably smaller." _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

"Well sir if that's the case I guess we can eliminate a couple of sites as LZs because they're too small."
OOC: Which of our possible LZ choices are big enough for a bulk freighter? Will one fit in the hanger or the cave? _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Bulk will NOT fit in the rear entrance - only LZs are the bit of a landing before the cave, and within the cave (a bulk transport can JUST squeak in with about 2-3m clearance all around the entrance. once inside plenty of room though) _________________ The Vong have Arrived

OOC: So with the chance largely immobile and blocking the cave then our only choice is the landing before the cave? _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

in front or within the cave yes. otherwise you have to setup base camp somewhere down the mountain. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

"I'm not quite sure how large a bulk freighter is but I'd guess the only place it could land would be the landing in front of the cave." _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

"Depends on the bulk freighter," Garolf tells the man. "The old Gallofree's we used back during the Rebellion had to run somewhere between eighty and a hunred meters in length. I've heard there are some smaller than that, plenty larger." _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!
