I want to write something, I hope, maybe usefull to you Smile

Recently my GM stareted new campagin, year before New Hope - and he introduced very interesting rule about Force sensetive characters: he secretly write down a number from 1 to 6, nad every player roll a dice - only players which roll THAT number will be force sensitive...
Of course nobody (beside GM Rolling Eyes ) knows what the secret number is, and who is the lucky guy Wink

GM have a lot's of intersting adventures hooks due to that, and belive me player's have so much FUN Very Happy - trying to figure, by GM narration, who, why and when Rolling Eyes and He is giving us, from time to time, a very little hint about that mystery Wink

so I have hope that some of you may find it usefull 8)

Have fun!

That's actually a very good idea. A nice way to add suspense. It sounds like your GM was influenced by the "Galaxies" MMORPG when it comes to whom is Force sensitive and who is not.

If your director decides when your character uses the Force so it actually is an unconscious use, like the book says, that would be really cool. Since the director (the Force) knows when the best time would be. I like it. I'm gonna begin using it.

A nice way to enhance the mystery of life in an RPG. That being said, if a person really, really, really wants to be a Force Sensitive character, I usually give them the opportunity.

I mean, after all, it IS a game...

I Like it. Its a whole lot better than players knowing they'll end up being jedies from the start. 8)

Ah, but here's the rub, not all FS characters are or become jedi.

Here's what I do. Or some variation of it.

If I don't have anything planned for Force sensitives in a campaign, I will let them roll a percentile die set. If they get a result of 5% or less they can be Force sensitive. That doesn't mean they can start as a Jedi all of the sudden. I make them pursue that in game.

If I have a campaign going where I encourage Force sensitivity, then I make it much easier on them.

A 5% chance to get Force sensitivity is really pretty tough. Almost no one ever gets it. I make every player do it, and occasionaly some one will get it and not use it.

Have fun!

There are lots of different ways of handling this, from percentage rolls and drawing lots to bidding wars.

Actually, I kind of like the bidding idea.

Give everyone an extra 5 Skill Points to build their characters with in the beginning. Have them write down the number of Skill Points that they want to bid to become Force Sensitive on slips of paper and pass them to the GM. Players aren't limited to just the 5 extra Skill Points, either.

The GM decides how many of the players can be Force Sensitive. Two out of a group of six, for example.

Those who bid the most win and their Characters are Force Sensitive. However, the Skill Points they bid are lost to them. Those who bid but lost lose nothing, but also do not become Force Sensitive.

The bid Skill Points of the winner(s) are distributed evenly amongst the losers with any remainder going to Droid (or other inherently non-Force Sensitive species that could not participate in the bid) PCs or are simply lost.
