The good news is, I finally get to hang out with my brother again next weekend and he wants to play some star wars d6. The bad news is that it will just be us and I won't have a ton of time to prepare an adventure from scratch. Does anyone have any suggestions for a prepared adventure that would work well with one pc?

You could look at expanding one of the solo adventures that WEG put out. They have one sample in the R&E, and one in the Tales of the Jedi Companion. However, I know they've published a number of other solo adventures.

Really depends on what kind of character he wants to play (and you are comfortable running).

I rarely use published adventures. With Star Wars, it's pretty easy to just set up a few things for a character to do.

A) Pick one interesting location to start in and have something for the character to do, say meet a contact in a cantina or casino somewhere (Mos Eisley or Bespin from the films or anyplace else that you like). Sprinkle a few NPCs around that might be interesting to talk to and at least one or two that will be a source of trouble - belligerent drunk, really tough jealous guy/gal who thinks the PC is trying to move in on his/her main squeeze, or a bounty hunter who is there to target the contact. This shoud set up enough trouble and interaction for at least an hour or two.

Result: Either the PC succeeds in avoiding or dealing with the trouble and meets his contact or the contact is dead, captured, or frightened off. If the latter, then continue at the current location until the PC can make contact (possibly having to find an alternate contact if the main contact is unreachable).

B) The contact sends the PC to a new (and exciting) location: could be freight to move if the PC is a tramp freighter or smuggler, could be a mission to pick up important information from a Rebel spy for a rebel. If the character is a pilot or has a ship throw in a quick space combat on arrival - TIE patrol, bounty hunter from A) is now after the PC, pirates are trying to rob a freighter or liner and the PC stumbles across the attack. This should use up another hour or so.

C) Once on the planet/station/ship for the new location - make up some more stuff.

For what it's worth, I ended up using a suggestion from Platt's Starport Guide. He wanted to play a Defel, so I sent him out into the jungle outside Port Haven after a recently crashed space ship. He narrowly escaped certain death at the hands of a few Modrol, but only after he obtained some highly coded datacards from the ship's dead captain, thereby setting up a new mission. Now all I have to do is figure out what was on the datacards. I figure the next mission can be finding a good enough slicer to tell him what info he is carrying.

I have a few ideas about what kind of intel he is now carrying, but I would be really curious to see what info some of you might put on those datacards.

What era are you playing in?

What kind of campaign are the two of you considering e.g. straight up Republic vs Separatist, Rebels vs Imperial, smugglers, other fringers, etc?

What is the Defel's occupation?

Good questions, and I should have given more information.

We are playing in the Rebellion Era. His character is basically a mercenary, though had spent the last few years working with a smuggler who had befriended him. The smuggler is now dead (it was his ship that had crashed - evidence points to an Imperial attack just before he jumped to hyper-space)

At this point, the type of campaign is pretty wide open. I would imagine it will be heavy on fringe types, but would also figure at some point he will get involved with the struggle between the Empire and the Rebellion.

I'd go with information that at least two sides want where the two sides might be from these three groups.

  • Imperials
  • Rebels
  • Criminals e.g. Black Sun or other Crime Syndicate

Info could be

  • Account books for Black Sun - Black Sun wants them back, but so do the Sector Rangers, local Moff, or Imperial Intelligence may all want the account books because (a) they are investigating Black Sun - think an Elliott Ness kind of Imperial NPC or for Sector Rangers I might use a Walker Texas Ranger character and his prosecutor girl friend.
  • Imperial Secret Weapon information - if you are playing pre ANH this could be an opportunity to have the PC be one link in the chain that provides the Death Star plans to the Rebels; if the PC is pre RotJ then this could be information about the second Death Star - the info that many Bothans died for and the PC can be a link in that chain; if you are in some other Rebellion time then make it some other Imperial Secret Weapon. Obviously the Rebels want the info, the Empire wants the info back, and Black Sun would be happy to acquire the info and sell it to the highest bidder.
  • Rebel NOC List (see Mission Impossible movie) - it has been stolen or taken by a traitor who was trying to sell it to (a) Black Sun who can use it to blackmail or ingratiate themselves with the Rebels or (b) ISB

Unknow data?
I'd like to add

Corporate secrets. They hire a private investigator to find the player and then send killers or even worse lawyers to get the data back. And you bet every other company wants it too.

Someone's dirty laundry. The great thing about this is it can be just about anyone. Maybe an imperial is cheating on his wife and the player has the pictures. The problem is the person that orignally pushed to get the evidence is a fellow imperial officer who is not a professional rival but a romantic. Or maybe someone has a fetish for a species that is not normally acceptable and wants to hide the details but his wookie lover wants their love out in the open. Or maybe they are part of a cult or secret society that they don't want others to know about [like a Catholic Freemason or something].

The mystery continues. Just as the crypto gets broken, its old fasion secret messages like lock and key numbers or evey 12 character written spells out the message or something else where they have to keep adventuring to find out what they have.

The Master Work. The greatest artist or musician or writer only made one copy of their new work and it didn't make it to the publisher. Imagine an army of Steven King fans hunting you down so they can get their fix. Even worse, think the big fight scene in the cloud city but replace Vader with Lady Gaga. Super creepy right?

Cheers

I'm glad I asked - these are some good ideas. I especially like the NOC list idea, though the Black Sun account books idea has a lot of potential for this particular character. Thanks! I'll let you know which one I go with.

Again, great ideas. I especially like and think I am going to use "the mystery continues." That will give the scenario a "National Treasure" type of feel, not to mention allowing me to stretch the story out a bit. Those also happen to be some of my player's favorite movies. Thanks!

Extra level on the two ideas together.

There are two traitors. Black spy and white spy for lack of better term. They don’t know each other but know another turn coat is working in the area. Instead of working together they see each other as competition for the payout. So they have a certain tendency to plant easy false info for the other to be made a fool with.

So you can have the info the PC’s have be fake [or real] info and encrypted with an easy break [that Black spy is using against white spy] and a harder one the Rebels/Republic already use.

White spy wants the info, black spy wants him to have it so white spy can look like an idiot.

Black spy may have not had the chance to wipe off his prints or something like that; thus wanting the info back momentarily to remove evidence only for it to end up with white spy so he can look like a fool.

Add the element of Counter Intell has been after one or both of them or just have an unknown info leak on their radar.

If you haven’t done a school of red herring in a while, this might help.

Cheers
