I was working on some ideas, and going through some comics for inspiration, and came on something that bothers me. I recall that the surface of Kashyyyk was so wildly dangerous that none, but the most courageous or the most mad, will never go there- and even fewer return. In a Clone Wars comic, however, they spent most of the book on the ground with little to fear.

How do you guys play it?

How I understand it. Near the forest edge, its not so bad (Where they did much of their fighting in the Clone Wars). But deep in the forest, miles beneath the tops of the tallest trees, where the light of day never penetrates, its a very dangerous place. And since much of the planet is covered by the collossal trees, , . . .

Truth.

The Clone Wars material presents a different aspect of Kashyyyk that hadn't seen much attention in the past - areas of small trees; yes, large by Earth standards, but much smaller than the great Wroshyr forests, several kilometers deep (tall)... the sub-canopy Wroshyr world is dangerous, and the forest floor (if you can reach it) is just as dangerous, if not more so.

Part of Wookiee rites of passage involved leaving the safety of the canopy to travel down into the forest for hunts... and surviving.

...And, what is dangerous for a lone wookie fanatic or a lone madman, is not dangerous to 100 clonetroopers backed up by armoured vehicles, air support, and a platoon of wookies.
