You could do a snoop and scoot for the awing focusing on scanning cargo so it can be marked for capture through ionization by ywings. High speed maneuvering to learn the awing's functional limits, maybe in an asteroid field and finding the 2 in 7 that the Rebels need. As a follow up you could do the ywing mission. Ionizing said targets and running cap while freighters drop in to liberate the enemy craft, then escort them to jump point. For real fun bwings could be scrambled to deal with an imp frigate that comes looking for the convoy and 'hop' your rookies into the bwings for the assault on the frigate.

Training Missions: I'd like to do one for each starfighter, like the Redemption scenario for the X-wings, not sure on the one for the A-wings, B-wings, or Y-wings.
Flight certification: kinda like how the flight sim did it, with a number of gates, followed by a number of targets & gates in X amount of time.

That could work. Say set it at 10 "piloting" rolls at XYZ difficulty (cruise speed) to get them in time, but if you want to try and go faster, it increases the difficulty but lessens the # of rolls.
At gates 3, 6 and 9 you also have 2 targets to hit (one short and one medium range) these don't dodge, but are taking off MAPs. Miss one and add ABC time to your overall score.

More useful stuff, thankies guys Very Happy

Had my brother come up with the unit patch ( though our artist skills are laughable.) The right wings of an X-wing, the left wing of a Y-wing, attached to a lightsaber hilt like Anakin/Luke Skywalker's with an orange blade, and orange unit markings on a star field. The New Republic era version would have the star field replaced with the New Republic crest.

Perhaps you can visit the starwars artists guild to see if one of the lads there would be willing to draw it out for ya.

As Lt. Cmdr Roguestar takes a seat in a waiting area, an ensign approaches him.
"Sir, Admr. Ackbar will see you momentarily"
He turns to the ensign "Thanks, what's his mode like today?"
"Umm, I'm not sure. I just received this assignment last week, so I don't know him that well yet, sir"
Smiling "You must have been to an academy of some kind"
Smiling neverously "Umm, yes sir, I attended the academy on Cardia"
"Nothing wrong with that son, just remember, most of your comrades have had to do a little on the job training."
The ensign's comlink beeps at him, "Chambers, please tell the Commander I'll see him now"
"Yes sir" the ensigns replies automatically.
Smiling, the cmdr heads into the inner office of the admiral.
"Some aide you have there, sir" as he throws the admiral a casual salute.
"Yes, he's one of the new recruits we just got in. You wanted to see me about something?" Returning the salute with ease. he take's a seat at his new desk.
"yes, I want to form a new starfighter squadron."
"That should be easy, but I'm guessing there is something more to it then that, or we wouldn't be talking about it."
"Yeah, two things about it..."
"Go on, commander"
"Well, you know how it's sometimes hard to field a squadron of fighters for specific rolls, such as a hit & run with a-wings, or a bombing runs with either the y-wings, or your new fighters..."
"B-wings. Where is this going?"
"Well, I'd like to form a composite squadron, consisting of 4 X-wings, 4 A-wings, and either 4 y-wings, or B-wings."
"That way your unit could do more then just your normal single starfighter squadron. This idea you have, let's work on it..."

This campaign setting is set right after the B-wings come into service, 2-3 months before the Battle of Hoth, in the classic era setting. The players should be a diverse mix of character types, not necessarily skilled as pilots. During the game, in addition to the normal allotment of character points, the GM may award skill points pertaining to the skills used. The first part of the game, the story and missions will try to get the players skilled enough to pilot their starfighters into an actual combat missions. Equipment will be the same, and players that pilot either an X-wing or Y-Wing will receive an astromech droid for their starfighter.
Standard equipment: flightsuit, blaster, datapad, comlink, dress uniform (not used often), & a standard survival kit.
Mission specific gear will be assigned as needed.
As this is a Rebel Alliance starfighter squadron, players will be in a casual military unit, with their CO as an NPC, ideally the players will be in the same flight, or flights, so they may be allowed to play multiple characters, with some of them outranking each other. The squadron will have a CO (Lt. Cmdr. Stryder Rougestar), an XO (Capt Redshirt) a quartermaster droid, and a military protocol droid (first appearence of M-3PO)
The first part of the campaign will be the flight training, mainly getting the players used to working in a group, and space combat. The second part will be the units's first actual combat, with the last part, them either being assigned to Echo base, or a Mon Calamari cruiser depending on how well their combat missions work out.
Story One: Welcome To Basic Flight School
NPCs: Lt. Cmdr. Rougestar, Capt. <Red Shirt>, Sgt. Redmond (Supply), M-3PO, various astromechs, chief mechanic Daily, her support staff, several ground crew, several starfighter instructors, & additional members of Knightwing squadron.
Story Two: Into the Fire
Story Three: <to be named>

True, but he was a former imp who went rogue, before going to the rebellion.
