Star Wars: reason atlantis was destroyed

Ok the backstory is that in the time before the the Sith wars, when Hyperspace Technology was at the height of it early life, there was a young but highly technological planet. This planet hadn't discovered space technology themselfves but had spacefariers traveling to and from its starports, that were built here by the aliens. Their technology was so advanced that their armor technology, shield technology, weaponry, and all other aspects of life were far better then anything the known galaxy could even compete with. After a while the "atlantians" with all there technological greatness got cocky and arragant, they built super wepons capable of being retrofitted to incomming and outgoing ships that were mini-starkiller missiles. These missiles when in another star system or sector of space would detatch unknowingly from the host ship and if the system didn't pay with whatever the atlantians wanted at the time, their star would be set to go super nova. The whole galaxy, distrought at the atlantians gull, conviened and decided to stiffle the high tech planet befor it could do any harm. It was in the best intrest to the galaxy to wipe the continent of atlantas of of the otherwise primitive world of Earth. Earth was rought with war for the next couple of days, and in the aftermath atlantis was no laid to waste on the bottum of Earth's ocean. The Galaxy at that time decided to leave Earth alone and only Scientist and other Educational personel would be alowed to visit, but only in secret.

Sounds as reasonable as many of the other explanations I've heard about Atlantis.

So, Hyperspace travel-wise, are we talking a several year trip from the Core Worlds to this "Earth" place? Or is it a Wormhole or what? Earthlings would love to get their hands on blaster tech right about now...
