I see several items that have differing scale weapons on. The Lancer Frigate has 20 quad laser cannons that use starship gunnery to hit, heavy proton bombs do 10D capital scale, I'm sure there are others.

Can you then take a ship and more easily damage these weapon installations? IE, called shots on gun batteries, etc might do starfighter scale damage and have starfighter scale armor, etc. Or targetting the deflector sheilds, etc?

Personally I like the idea of big ships having "AA gun" batteries. And of little ships targetting the radars or whatnot.

I like this idea, it makes space battle more realistic. The gun emplacement might be more fragile than the ship's hull, but remember that the shields cover everything mostly equally.

So would you use the Hull rating of the capital ship for the individual emplacements? Or assign each their own stats. IE, the deflector sheld might have a hull rating of 6D?

Same shield rating but a much lower hull rating. However destroying it doesn't mean you destroy the ship, just that piece, which will affect the whole of the ship in different ways. Destroying a shield generator would lower the entire ship's shield rating (or maybe completely expose one arc, until the controllers redistribute the shields). Destroying a gun emplacement will only leave the ship with one less gun to shoot at you. Destroying the bridge will leave the ship in chaos, and its maneuverability and coordination capabilities will be severely hampered. Destroying a hangar bay will keep the ship from launching fighters, and so on.
