No no 10CP to be allowed to use additional cp to go +1D above species cap.

Joe the guard has 4D dex, he spent his 10Cp that he started with to be allowed to increase his dex to 5D (4D is human species cap)
during his service with the stormtrooper corps he eventually was selected for royal guard training after distinguishing him self in battle several times.


That makes no sense, cause as IS by the RAW, anyone can, if they wish to risk the CP, go above species max..

Exactly.. Take my old PC for example. 4d Know. Alien species 5d+2, Bureaucracy 7d+1, Planetary systems 6d, scholar 5d, languages 7d+2, streetwise 8d+2, willpower 7d+2, value 5d+1.
Just to improve all those skills 1 pip would be 5+7+6+5+7+8+7+5 = 50 cp on it's own.



If the skill is higher than the attribute and you increase the attribute then the skill should not be affected.
if you have 4D Kno
languages 8D
Survival 4D+2
Rest of skills 4D
and you increase Kno to 5D
then the skills will be
Languages 8D
survival 5D+2
rest of skills 5D


I get it: in order to be ALLOWED to spend CPs to go over the species max, you impose an initial cost of 10cp. By spending those 10, you get no immediate benefit. Then, you can spend the required 40+40+40 to raise the attribute to 5D. Sounds okay to me.

I would seriously consider raising the skills along with the attribute: as the character raises the attribute one pip at a time, the skill increases would not "jump" to +1D. Furthermore, there is little point in having a Dex of 5D if all the commonly used skills are already higher than this. It seems that Perception and Strength are the two most "premium" attributes in terms of their base value, since there are plenty of rolls (in every adventure/every battle, etc) that depend on just the attribute. But a Dex check is not nearly as common a thing.
