For me, it all depends upon the comlinks, function, et cetera.

Galactic Standard, Universal Comlink meant for use by anyone, anywhere, anytime, without the aid of relay, is the 50km range one. The one in the book the good man who posted before me has shown us.

My players are on Ord Mantell and have found a couple of comlinks that have planet-wide range. So long as they stay on Ord Mantell. Cell coms using a specifcally coded relay network for that backwater planet.

Droid Installed Commlinks have a range of 100 KM. Our group often uses Droids as "Mobile Radio Repeaters" in the Far Orbit Fleet.

"How the hell do you explain the increased range?" "Larger battery source to provide more power, and a larger antenna." "What antenna?" "Well... The Droid's Body, of course."

Indeed, droid transmitters are installed along the body. Great for long range recon. Especially when using a simple work droid as a spy.

Page 226 of the R&E corebook gives 50 km for a standard personal comlink and 200 km for most vehicular comlinks. You could probably find some with even greater ranges or more restricted ranges.

Kinda like you can find Cell Phones that can transmit in basements of some houses, and others that can't get a signal through a piece of paper.

Self-Sharpening Sheath. Gotta love 'em. As long as you take the knife out (And put it back in), it'll stay sharp.

And you do that every time you take your boots off, and put 'em back on. Mainly because the one time you forget, that's when you need the knife the most. And if you survive that one time, you know "Never again".

Anyhow, they're useful for marking trails, cutting ropes, stripping wires, opening letters, and a hundred and one sundry items. Look at what MacGyver does with just a little knife, and imagine what he could do with a big one? Wink

I am usually in knife fights, so I usually have a rock with me, rock crushes scissors. But now I am stuck in a paper armor cell, my extremely cheap comlink can't even call for someone with a knife handy.

...combat, oversimplified.

Particularily when someone pulls out fire and makes your Paper Power Armour go up in flames.

And Crunch's Plan with the rock *WORKED*!!!
