Check this out... HyperspaceD6... it attempts to streamline d6 with some modifications (almost a different take on the game, honestly). Seems kind of neat, I want to try it out...

Dodge determines the defense. 3 x Dodge + pips + cover modifier

The attcker’s roll vs Defense is modified by range.

Declaring a full dodge grants +10 to defense.

Soak works the same.

Unpopular opinion:

I almost feel like the entire concept of trying to create a tactical space combat game with fire arcs, and maneuvers, and this type of granularity sort of breaks with the spirit ...
