Welcome!

I agree that d20 doesn't capture the feel of Star Wars like D6 does.

Welcome! Totally agree that D6 is definitely the way to go for a Star Wars movie feel.

Greetings.

I am a new player to WEG Star Wars d6.

I played role-playing games back in middle & high school (D&D, AD&D, Gama World, Space Opera, GURPS, etc), but put it aside for years in favor of board and war games.

Now 40 yrs old, I recently decided to give role-playing a try with my wife and kids (4, ages 10 - 20) and chose SAGA Star Wars since everyone would be familiar with the game universe.

It was a great success, but could have been even better if the game mechanics had been more "transparent". They got a little hung up on the rules, wanting to do things "the right way", and quickly got caught up on trying to min/max.

When I found out that WEG Star Wars would encourage a more "open" game, I started researching and now I'm hooked.

I got a copy of the 2nd Ed Revised & Expanded rules as a PDF online, but I desperately want a hard copy....

Any ideas? I tried the places listed on the main Rancor Pit website but no luck. Amazon wants a minimum of $40. Any lower priced options out there?

Thanks!

If you want a hard copy, check out Amazon. The following link has copies for under $15:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B003DXFZ5Q/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&qid=1308948427&sr=1-52&condition=used

Also, take a little time to check out the fan made sourcebooks in the "tools" section of this site, there are a TON of free resources available for download there.

Oh, and welcome to the community!

eBay will usually have used copies for sale at bargain prices. Found this one for $9.99 with 0 bids and just under 5 days left.

Also, you can get the basic 2nd edition book for a lot less than the R&E edition. Its not as big of a book, but it does have all of the rules you need to play the game.

Thanks! I had searched for the full name and gotten a much narrower and expensive collection...who knew just typing in a generic name would get me the bargains!?!

I ordered one for $11 with shipping! Thanks again!

Yeah, that's the way to do it. It's a matter of the right search terminology and a lot of patience. I've gotten most of my collection for just an absolute steal. I snagged Galaxy Guide 6 once for $0.75, Hideouts and Strongholds for $5.00. I don't get them right when I want them, but I do eventually get them.

Finally got my 2nd ed rev & exp core book and it is in great condition! Thanks again! The pdf was nice, but nothing like having the "real thing" in your hands...

Also jump started my collection with an ebay win...all of these for $50:

40036 The Isis Coordinates
40080 Creatures of the Galaxy
40082 Tales of the Jedi Companion
40107 Platt's Starport Guide (minor scuffing of cover)
40109 Alliance Intelligence Reports
40114 Jedi Academy Sourcebook
40126 Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi
40127 Imperial Entanglements
40129 The Best of the Star Wars Adventures Journal Vol. 1-4
40139 Cracken's Threat Dossier

The Far Orbit Project is among my favorates.

The Tales of the Jedi Companion is a must have! Its an incredible resource for force users.

Creatures of the Galaxy, The Jedi Academy sourcebook, Plat's Starport Guide, and Crakens Threat Dosier are all really useful books as well.

It looks like you got your hands on a really nice collection!

Almost all of the old WEG books are useful, but here is a list of the must-haves for any collection (IMHO):
Stock Ships
GG6: Tramp Freighters
Alien Encounters
Fantastic Technology
Fantastic Technology: Personal Gear
Fantastic Technology: Droids
Imperial Sourcebook
Rebel Sourcebook
Rules of Engagement
Planets Collection
Pirates & Privateers

Um hey! New guy here. Old gamer though. Picked up 1st Ed when it came out in 87... I was a happy lil thirteen year old back then. Have just started up a new Classic Era campaign recently, dusting off some old material and happy to find this community still totally into it. Looks like a great place to bounce some ideas.

Bah! Not me! I'm old and grouchy! I liked ideas better back in the old days. They didn't bounce. They were made of DIE CAST METAL! *grumble* The stuff they make ideas out of these days won't last. THEY'RE NOT MADE TO!
