A Spark in the Darkness - IC Chapter II

[Hellcat]

Garolf nods. He then points to Zinn

"Cal Jeth."

His finger travels to Takii.

"Converax."

Then on to Rownn

"Chalkazza"

As he speaks Garolf gradually puts on a slightly deeper, more raspy voice that seems like he's growling the names. Finally he points to himself.

"Kanwulf."

Growl frowns then begins speaking in his normal voice.

"Hmmm, perhaps just deepen my voice a little, not try to add too much to it. Hurts the throat. But I think we're on the way to possibly presenting a rather awful bunch of characters you wouldn't want defending the New Republic from the Vong scum. But who might be the kind of scum who'd embrace what they seem to offer."

Lt Eckmire nods and says "I do have some voice altering tech that I brought with me. You can feel free to use them if you want to help, but I know some people dont like relying on tech to form their disguise. The fighter is in hangar B, feel free to explore the base to your heart's content."

With that Lt Eckmire departs the meeting room. Garolf doesnt even have time to say anything as Takii follows him out and heads to Hangar B to examine the ship.

The ship looks like it has seen many better days. There are parts of the hull that are rusting, others have patches on them indicating recent repairs. It is a large ship, almost the size of a freighter. Inside there is an odd smell to it, like something may have died inside, and the smell is lingering. The bunks are ratty looking - the previous owners did not seem to mind poor hygiene you can guess. There are numerous scuff marks, and a few blast marks from blasters on the wall, ceiling and floor. The engine room is a bit of a mess but everything is functioning normally. The backup hyper-drive has a hole in the middle of it. Various systems are damaged and in need of repair but (after a few hours of examining) Takii determines that it is flyable and space worthy... if only just.

ooc: feel free to post your questions about the base - but standard base layout, nothing of interest anywhere (plot, secret stashes of gold, etc) Will be moving us forward Wednesday to your first "trial run" of the heist.

He approaches Lt. Eckmire, "Lieutenant, are there any leads on a suitable Wookiee cover? If possible, I'd like to know something about him before the mission."

Rownn looks over the ship approvingly, "This should serve splendidly," and looks towards Takii and Zinn, "don't clean it up too much!"

Takii's mandibles hang open in shock.
"What piece of junk!"

He turns to the Lieutenant. "Came here in that thing? Braver than thought."

Zinn follows Garolf and Takli to the hangar bay to get a look at the ship. As he enters the bay, he stops dead in his tracks. "Karking piece of poodoo!" he exclaims. Then, to his shock, he hears Rownn tell them not to clean it up too much. Looking at the Wookiee disbelievingly, he says, "I'd be more comfortable if we at least made it actually ship-shape, rather than barely." He points at the hull. "We could replace those hull plates, and then make it look like a hunk of junk. Honestly, I'd much rather be flying something like the Millennium Falcon, that doesn't look like much but has it where it counts, than take our chances in some ship that we A) don't know a bloody thing about, or B) performs about as well as it looks. If we get in a pinch, I'd really prefer to be able to count on our ship to help us get out of it."

Rownn nods to Eckmire to convey a "thanks"

Offhand, Rownn intones, "It's a great disguise. Remember that that's what it is first and foremost. Of course it has to work, but don't make working a priority if it could compromise its intent. This is a vehicle for this mission, not a combat vessel. WE aren't flying this, our characters are."

Tiny reports to what ever counts for a med bay to get measured up for prostheses and any other treatments to help him be less recognizable.

OOC: Potentially some bacta treatment to help fade or remove some (or all of his scars), the way it was done for 'Face' in Wraith Squadren. Tiny won't like it but it is for the mission. If that is not available perhaps new scars can be added to obsure his old ones, prefferably a large scar on his head so he can play at being simple (or more simple than he already is).

Zinn looks sidelong at Rownn. "Sure, it's our 'characters' that are flying it, but if our 'characters' run into problems with it, or even worse, there isn't going to be any distinction between us and our 'characters.' I want to make sure we ALL survive this, and hopefully not simply by the skin of our teeth."

"The Lieutenant came here in it, it'll fly safely enough to get us where we need to go. As it is, it's battered, it's ugly, it looks like something a group of mercenaries hard on cash, or more interested in spending elsewhere would fly, and it will perform in much the same way. If we improve it too much, we risk blowing cover. If there's concern about how well it'll hold together in a fire fight, follow the first rule of combat: avoid combat. This is a conveyance, not a combat craft. Really, we'd probably be better served by something without guns, even."

Zinn shakes his head, then says, "Either way, I'm gonna have to take her out and get familiar with her before we have to depend on her. If there are any deficiencies, I'll let you know. Anyone who's going to fill any crew positions should come along, but I definitely want Takli, as he'll be our chief engineer."

Tiny examines his prosthetic arm, looking around for someone who can help him fit it and reach the straps to keep it in place.

Seeing Tiny looking around, Anala steps over to him, "I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I might be able to help with the straps?" She fashes him her friendliest smile.

Tiny nods, completely forgetting to leer at the woman. "Thankff, I can't reach all of the fftrapff."

Taking a look at the prosthetic, Anala stats working on the straps that are hardest for him to reach. "Let me know if I get them too tight," She says as she starts snugging the straps down. "We havent been properly introdced," She says softly while she starts double checking her work, "I'm Anala Sehn."

OOC: I'm guessing that fitting the prosthetic is a First Aid check? In that case Anala has Tecnical 2D. She will take her time working on it so there is less chance of doing it wrong. Once done, Search 6D to make sure it looks right.
