I just watched the new trailer, and my first impression is that I'm actually feeling more excited about this than I ever did about TFA. A lot of what we will see in this film can be more plausibly tied in with gaming in the classic era. I'm particularly interested in the Rebel scout ship (at least, I assume that's what it is)...
Just figured I'd get the ball rolling... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

That wasn't the only new ship shown. Look again at around 0:36. That's not an X-Wing. It shows up again at 1:16. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. A Z-95 has a single-hull bow and twin engines. This ship has a twin bow and quad engines.
Go back and pause the video, then put a picture of a Z-95 next to it. They're nothing alike. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Very cool! Can't wait to see some hard numbers. I reposted stats a while back for a light combat shuttle loosely based on the Y-Wing, but this looks way better. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Any info on the quad-wing shuttle? It reminds me somewhat of the BR-23 Courier from RoE. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Why rely on LEGO sets when there's been a reveal of the ship through official sources? |

Upon reflection, there is a lot of similarity of mission between the U-Wing and the Pinnace from Han Solo's Revenge, along with some superficial similarity in design (notably the swept wings). It'll be interesting to see more detail on it: maybe it can be fit with a plasma torch so as to allow its troops to board starships or space stations... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I believe Wookieepedia got their info from the official video. The episode link describes a troop transport/gunship U-Wing. When looking into it more deeply (see below), it looks like the Lego version has a single-pilot cockpit (which is a normal "shrinking" that Lego does do with the scale) and calls it a fighter, but it still retains the lower troop compartment: LEGO Set
ROGUE ONE ANALYSIS: THE U-WING IS NOT A STARFIGHTER!
Someone in the video called it a fighter even though it was described as a troop transport/gunship. So what I think what we're dealing with in all the ambiguity is the ship classification. I would be inclined to agree with "Stormtrooper Larry" that the troop transport/gunship is not a "starfighter," but whatever. There may not be multiple versions of the ship in the movie. _________________ *

Based on the schematics from that link, and assuming that the side-by-side cockpit scenes with Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor are from the inside of a U-Wing (which is my bet), this thing is actually pretty big, with enough vertical space for two decks: the cockpit on top and a larger troop/passenger deck underneath.
The black opaque used for the cockpit windows on the schematics indicates windows on the front and sides of the lower deck, as well. However, there is no indication of side windows in the trailer.
The Celebration "Making of" video does show a door gunner, with what I would guess to be a light or medium repeating blaster...
There does seem to be a bow ramp, as well... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Appreciated, but Wookieepedia doesn't have much more detail than the rest of us at this point.
Based on what I've seen, I'm willing to make a guess at a stat.U-WING COMBAT SHUTTLE
Craft: Incom's UT-60D "U-Wing"
Type: Multi-Role Combat Shuttle
Scale: Starfighter
Length: 37.5 meters
Skill: Space Transports: U-Wing
Crew: 2 (1 @ +5) & 2 Gunners
Passengers: 10 (or 10 metric tons cargo capacity)
Consumables: 10 days
Nav Computer: Yes
Hyperdrive Multiplier: x2
Hyperdrive Backup: x10
Maneuverability: 1D+1
Space: 6
Atmosphere: 330; 950 kmh
Hull: 4D
Shields: 1D
Sensors:
Passive: 15/0D
Scan: 25/1D
Search: 40/2D
Focus: 1/3D
Weapons:
2 Medium Laser Cannon (Fire-Linked)
Fire Arc: Front
Crew: 1 (pilot or co-pilot)
Skill: Starship Gunnery
Fire Control: 2D
Space Range: 1-3/12/25
Atmosphere Range: 100m-300m/1.2km/2.5km
Damage: 6D
2 Proton Torpedo Launchers (Fire-Linked)
Fire Arc: Front
Crew: 1 (pilot or co-pilot)
Fire Control: 1D
Space Range: 1/3/7
Atmosphere Range: 30-100/300/700
Damage: 9D
Ammo: 4 per launcher
2 Medium Repeating Blasters
Fire Arc: 1 Front/Left, 1 Front/Right (+5 Difficulty to Hit in Front Arc)
Scale: Character
Crew: 1
Skill: Blaster
Fire Control: None (manually aimed by Gunner)
Atmosphere Range: 3-50/150/400
Rate of Fire: 2D Auto-Fire
Damage: 6D
Note: Can only be fired if the U-Wing's side doors are open, which is only possible in atmosphere. When the doors are open, the door gunner receives the equivalent of 1/4 Cover.
Obviously, there is a lot of guesswork and conjecture on my part at this point, but I can offer a few points:Length: If you look at the partial blueprint on the link Whill provided, the top view is laid out on a grid pattern, with the U-Wing being just over 37 squares long, so 37.5
Gunners: We only see one door gunner in the available material, but I'm going to assume one on each side.
Passengers: My guess may be low, but I'm not married to this number...
Maneuverability, Hull and Shields: If this thing is a combat shuttle, it's going to have to be durable and able to take a lot of hits. However, I don't want it to be a flying tank, so I made it just as durable as an X-Wing, despite its larger size. I also made it less maneuverable than a Y-Wing. So, it's big, tough, faster than most space transports, but still slower and more clumsy than most starfighters.
EDIT: Based on new external evidence, I believe this ship is equipped with proton torpedo launchers. This would be appropriate for a gunship providing fire support for ground troops.
EDIT: Changed the type from Pinnace to Shuttle, as a Pinnace is historically a small, short ranged craft attached to a naval vessel, while the U-Wing can clearly be seen operating from a planetary base and is hyperspace-capable. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Here's a nice find: 3D turntables of the U-Wing with its wings forward...
And swept aft...
Notice the notches on either side aft of the cockpit. I'm thinking proton torpedo launchers... After all, it is a gunship...
And this is ILM's turntable reference, so... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.
