I have to say, out of all the battloid designs I saw in Robotech, the Southern Cross ones were the most... underwhelming...

They really were. But they were also pretty easy to generalize. I'm sure there are Southern Cross people who HATE how I didn't provide specific details on all the specific models but... they're all pretty much the same.

The Destroids (RDF and REF) are neat, but they're more complicated.

Sorry I missed this thread the first couple of times around. Loved Robotech! Silly question: Is 2D hull for a Veritech too low? We see them take some damage and crash through buildings, and Veritechs look sturdier than TIEs. That just jumped out at me. Great work, and can't wait to see what you do with the SDFs.

I'm pretty comfortable with the 2D, thinking about it. It's comparable to similar starfighters, and while they crash through buildings, it's not that they're military buildings. They're a nascent technology.

Oddly enough, Robotech mechs make more sense from a technological standpoint in the SWU than they do in the actual Robotech timeline. A Veritech, for example, has to have serious structural integrity issues, seeing as how it is actually designed to change shape, yet still be able to pull high-G maneuvers in fighter-mode. SWU field-tech, such as magnetic seals to reinforce physical matter, is a nice workaround for those tech issues, yet there is no real explanation in the Robotech universe apart from "protoculture," which is code for "technology magic."

What about a Structural Integrity Field, like in Trek?

I’m confident something like that exists in the SWU, as well.

Oh, and you misspelled ‘photon’. Twisted Evil

Isn't that the navigation shields in SW?

You both misspelled it. It's called the Photoprotoneutron Torpedo. Razz 8)
