I've worked through this system for a ship and my nonconstructive feedback is that the wording is clunky and the organization is illogical. It took me way too long to puzzle out the intended meanings of some of these sections. And it only gives a rounding convention for one calculation when there are other possibilities where rounding may be be needed.
I will say it would probably be best to do the ship's weapon systems (end of the document) first. The points it sometimes vaguely refers to in that section are "Emplacement Points". You need to know the total Weapon EP value for calculating the ship's Constructions Points. And it would also probably be best to skip the Sensors where it comes in the document and just do Sensors last because that is straight credit cost with no Constructions Points involved. Then add up your weapons cost, construction points cost, sensors cost, and any additional systems costs to get the total cost.
I feel the system could be improved but I won't be the one to do it. I don't feel it is worth the additional time to further detail the document's opportunities for improvement, but if anyone else is using this and asks a question, I'll try to answer it. _________________ *

It is funny how sometimes people take something that works and tweak it with something they really want to add, but don't really consider how someone other than themselves will figure out how to construct it.
I would guess that my original system worked well as multiple people, including Krapou, constructed ships with it and then wanted to tweak it. So the Star Wars ship construction was created. But now that has been tweaked even more. So hopefully Fallon Kell will take the assessment and make changes of clarification. |

Fallon's been absent/lurking for quite some time, but there's always hope. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Anyone know if MojoMoe is around? Its been a number of years since he released GG16 and promised some edits that were needed as well as the (at the time) current story line Rise of the Hutt Cartells. Nothing since. I know he had a baby and that will change your life. I am hopefuly we can get a fixed version as well as an update. _________________ Don Diestler

They are welcome back anytime!
A couple years ago, I sent Fallon Kell a PM regarding "mountains of fluff" he had sent me for a fan document years earlier which I had unfortunately lost in a computer crash. He did reply in February 2018 stating he would look for it to resend it, and I replied with thanks and some more info to help him track it down. That second message I sent him is still sitting in my Outbox, so if he has logged on in the past two years he hasn't read the message.
I hope they come back. _________________ *

You are welcome as is the whole community. Enjoy the book. There is an Easter egg to be found, if you do, you will understand. _________________ Don Diestler

If we find the Easter Egg by Tuesday, we would have the luck of the Irish. |

Naw, she's not cool enough to be a Darth. I think Kennedy is a Grand Moff at best.

They look pretty good. My understanding is that is fan art for a Dark Rey. GG14 is clearly an EU work, but this isn't overtly Rey so I don't think it's a bad choice of image to use on the cover.
As soon as you settle on a front and back cover you like, I'll add those to the PDF in the Library. Thank you. _________________ *

I have a problem with the The Dark Side PDF when trying to create a project on Lulu. Apparently the fonts are not embedded. I have tried to find the missing fonts and embed them using AA DC X and I still have a single font that will not embed. I am open to suggestions on how to fix this, or if someone with more knowledge, skill, and appropriate apps can fix it, even better. _________________ Don Diestler

I wish I could help. I have no clue about fonts or Lulu. The Kinko print job I did for that book must have been just straight image processing from the PDF file pages. There was no font setting. But the book did end up looking like the PDF.
I also wish the creator (Eric "Mod-Sithson") would show up and answer your font questions. I don't know a year, but this is one of the early fan books.
So did you finalize front and back covers? _________________ *

What do you guys think of the blurb for the back cover?
Galaxy Guide 14 The Dark Side wrote: | "The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural ..."
-- Darth Sidious
Practitioners of the DARK SIDE draw their power from intense, raw and dark emotions such as fear, anger, hatred, passion, and aggression. The SITH are but one of many disciplines that follow the path of the dark side. The path of the DARK SIDE is the quick and easy path, granting amazing power but for many, forever dominating their destinies.
Inside you will find:
• New rules for Dark Side Points, corrupting influence of the Dark Side, and redemption.
• Five new templates: Fallen Jedi, Dark Jedi Warrior, Dark Side Sorceror, Dark Side Bounty Hunter, and Alien Sith Warrior.
• History of the Sith Empire to the fall of its empire.
• New Dark Side Force powers such as Corruption of the Flesh, Soul Bomb, and Force Mask.
• Creatures of the Dark Side such as Duxn beasts, sathishs, and Void spiders.
• New equipment and weapons. |
