So a jedi with 4d control could reflect a walker scale blaster that deals 5d walker scale damage, or take only 2d damage from a tie fighter shooting him??

It does work a little better than "I can parry the Death Star Superlaser with no ill effects" that currently are the RAW.

The rules as written also allow the GM to make on-the-fly decisions about what makes sense and that the rules should be ignored in those cases where they don't.

An alternative to that would be applying the Scale Difficulty to the Difficulty to Parry, representing a combination of factors such as beam/bolt power, diameter and Circular Error Probability (as in, the larger a weapon gets, the less likely it becomes that it will come close enough to the Jedi to be able to reach with their saber). So a Jedi could attempt to Parry a shot from a Death Star, but would be at +24D Difficulty to do so.

And the larger and more powerful a weapon gets, the more likely it becomes that the character will take splash damage.

Also on topic, a few years back, I suggested a few practical uses for the Dual-Phase Lightsaber, including ignoring up to 2D of Scale modifier to represent the added reach.

Assuming they make the deflect roll, yes. Jedi Skills take quite a bit of effort to improve, so while they may be deflecting walker scale blasters, like in Rebels, they will likely never deflect capital scale damage.

Bear in mind they are doing walker scale damage if they have 4D in control and lightsaber combat is up, so slicing through walker legs becomes a matter of RAW too.

They can also improve their lightsaber damage lightsaber repair through the RAW in 2E R&E, up to 6D+2. As a house rule I would theoretically let someone make a new lightsaber that is designed to be more powerful than the normal 5D, but that's a different discussion.

That's how i do it IMC.. Scale ADDS to the difficulty to parry, not adds to the jedi's roll to parry..
