This one has stats that were tweaked by ShootingWomprats during my previous, brief foray onto this site, and then were again tweaked by myself. As the stats have changed considerably, I want to include it on this list though ...

I really like the RLASV, looks like something the Imperials would field on Hoth. Not sure about the Ski Rack though Very Happy
(I'm guessing that is the sensor and communication array mentined in the writeup)

Have to say, I really love those two little dudes in the pic, the one with the red shoulder is especially awesome. They
remind me of a cross between a Stormtrooper and a Space Marine

That's most likely exactly what it is. Makes it hard for the turret to shoot to the rear, but, well, the Imperials have always been about "Attack, Attack, Attack!"

If the overhead rack was on the original model, a more likely reason for it is improvised spaced armor to defend against plunging artillery shells. Most armored vehicles have their weakest armor on the turret roof, and while it was next to impossible for an artillery round to be deliberately aimed to hit the turret roof, it did sometimes happen due to random chance. A welded-on metal grid umbrella would prematurely detonate any high-explosive rounds.

It's difficult to say whether or not this would be the case in the SWU, though. My first thought, seeing as how this is a recon vehicle, would be to make this some aspect of a sensor mask system.

The original model was an Airfix model of a German WW2 armoured communications car and the 'ski rack' was indeed a radio antennae array.

I think it was the Sd.Kfz.263 6-rad. (Can you see why I went with 'RLASV' to mimic the letter-heavy designation of the 'original'?)

See the information on https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/category/ww2-german-armored-cars/

The huge frame antenna was apparently known as “mattress” (ger. “matratze”). I know Xian Arke said he didn't like it, bit bizarrely it's my favourite part about the model.

BTW, Xain Arke, the 15mm lead figures are 'Imperials' from Tabletop games. They were, in the 1980s, the closest I could get to stormtroopers in 15mm, and so I just painted them white and said they were! I liked 15mm figures 'cos they made converted 20mm scale vehicles look a bit more impressive!

BTW: This armoured car looks weedy compared with the troopers, but I always imagined it as speeding ahead with wings of scout troopers on speeder bikes, almost like an enclosed, armoured, two person speeder bike itself!

Ooh! I wish they'd had more repulsor tanks in the Star Wars movies.

Those cheap toy tanks are remarkably effective as repulsor tanks. Excellent chose in base material and awesome work StarPadre

The stats seem pretty well balanced too Smile

The TX-225 GAVw "Occupier" combat assault tank from Rogue One was supposed to be a repulsor tank originally, but ended up being tracked for
whatever reason. I guess maybe budget or time crunch reasons.

I had forgotten about the TX-225 GAVw Xain Arke. Real shame that wasn't repulsorlift!

...

[23.] Medium Repulsorlift Tank [IMPERIAL]

Modelling Notes:
An Airfix WW2 Russian tank, I think, made into a ‘grav tank’ (Traveller) then counted as a repulsorlist tank in my Star Wars games.

A medium tank for ground battles, usually employed by the Imperial army rather than Stormtooper regiments.

Craft: MRT Type 2

That Medium Repulsorlift Tank is very Star Warsy to me. The shape of the main body reminds me of the image used in the Wookieepedia
entry for the Imperial 1-H Repulsor Tank.

Simple but effective conversion, excellent Smile

The stats are nice too. I definitely approve of how it is tanky enough, but not so tough that PC's couldn't defeat it with concerted effort.

This one, being the lightest of the three categories, may then please you more Xain Arke!

...

[24.] Armoured Light Combat Unit [IMPERIAL]
(aka Light Repulsorlift Tank)

Modelling Notes:
An Airfix tank, but I cannot recall what kind, made into a ‘grav tank’ (for Traveller) then counted as a repulsorlist tank in my Star Wars games.

As light as a armoured-combat repulsorlift vehicle gets. Employed by the Imperial army, often in difficult terrains or against more primitive beings.

[25.] Light Utility Repulsorlift Skiff / Cargo Carrier [IMPERIAL]

Modelling Notes:
A cheap, soft polystyrene WW2 model, of a WW2 landing craft I think. I got two. No conversion done as it came in four pieces – door, seat, gun, body. I thought it looked right without conversion!

Campaign Notes:
Very much a cheap utility craft, used by the Imperial army to lug supplies around to smaller outposts or with large bases.

Stats
Craft: LURS (Model 2)
Type: Light Repulsorlift Skiff
Scale: Speeder
Length: 7.5 meters
Skill: Repulsorlift operation: Light Skiff
Crew: 1
Passengers: 5
Cargo Capacity: 2 metric tons (instead of passengers)
Cover: 1/2
Altitude Range: Ground level - 12 meters
Cost: Not available for sale
Maneuverability: 0D

Body Strength: 2D

It's amazing how effective simple conversions and a suitible paint job can
alter a model into something sci-fi. Great work as always StarPadre

Wow, I think I owned that same landing craft model as a child, or one that was virtually identical Very Happy

It does work unconverted as a repulsor landing craft. Those lander things in the Force Awakens aren't far removed from a basic WW2 Landing Craft either.

Really enjoying all your model conversions

Thanks Xain Arke. I think I am gonna take the plunge and 'work-up' one of my adventure scenarios.

I have a deal of scanning, editing and 'fiddling about' ahead of me. Hopefully it'll be much more fun than random vehicles and planet descriptions.

But...but...but those ARE fun... Crying or Very sad (I guess you meant fun Wink)

Cool, Look forward to what you post up. Good luck and fairwind with the scanning and stuff, I know how much sorting out old gaming stuff can suck.
