There was a speculation how Millennium Falcon got to Anoat system with no hyperdrive. Some said backup, some said on the back of ISD, ect, ect.
However, here it is said clearly: you have to go to from Tatooine to the neighbor solar system on sublight (why on sublight - I do not want to spoil too much). And...ok, lets do it but it will take some time (but not that much ).
Technically, it is possible just like in Forever War novels but this would create time disproportion with the other characters of the story. _________________ Don’t Let the Rules Get in the Way of a Good Story. |

Man, Mando flies like my old characters did. Not to mention the condition of the ship after he was done.
Makes me miss the D6 games that much more. |

That's fine but FYI this is a 'spoilers allowed' thread. No one should be reading this thread until they are caught up on the latest episode. If they choose to read it before they see whatever the latest episode is, that is their issue.

There is no time dilation in Star Wars so sublight speeds do not get anywhere close to relativistic speeds.

Yes. One solution to Hoth-Anoat is that when Leia said, "Where are we?" she wasn't asking what system they were in (which she should already know) but rather what is nearby (within the short range of the hyperdrive backup). That isn't applicable here.
Another solution to Hoth-Anoat is that the two systems are a s-type binary star system, which are basically two planetary systems side by side. That could be the case for Tatoo-Kol Iben, but the Kol Iben system is described as in the next sector. If the Kol Iben system was right beside the Tatoo system, that would make them much closer than Geonosis to Tatooine, so it wouldn't make sense to divide the sectors between these two close-by systems. The other issue is that the Maldo Kreis planet was in between Tatooine and Trask on this all-sublight journey. Maldo Kreis's system was not identified, so it could have possibly been in the Kol Iben system on the way to Trask.
Unfortunately, this is worse than Hoth-Anoat. And it is a dumb contrivance that the eggs would die in hyperspace anyway. I think it is just sloppy writing, like TESB. Jon Favreau is not a science guy and doesn't understand the distances of space sectors, the physics of space travel, and why hyperdrive and sublight exist. Kinda sad that a talented entertainer can't be bothered to know anything more than hyperdrive is faster than sublight.
Other than that, I liked the episode. My wife and son were horrified that The Child kept eating the eggs. I think it was the first negative thought my son had about him. And my son was freaked out by the spiders and couldn't watch all of it - He apparently inherited my wife's more extreme arachnophobia. I really liked Frog Lady. Cool alien. _________________ *

Mando should have put the eggs into carbonite...for perfect protection. Then jump. _________________ Don’t Let the Rules Get in the Way of a Good Story. |

Yeah. And didn't the last big spider smash a leg through the cockpit window? I understand the end where they seal off and pressurize the cockpit from the rest of the ship due to the gaping hull breaches, but did Mando plug the cockpit hole? I don't remember that being addressed but maybe I missed it. _________________ *

Yeah, I saw a new side of my wife with the spiders. She never had a reaction like that to a movie or TV show before. _________________ __________________________________

My wife and I are huge Lord of the Rings fans, but my wife literally takes off her glasses and looks away from the TV whenever Shelob appears on screen in the Return of the King film. She has a similar reaction to the spider scene of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (but not quite as drastic as Shelob which is more frightening). My wife wasn't as bothered by these spiders, perhaps because they were white and alien looking. I also possess the arachnophobia genes, but my arachnophobia is to much lesser degree and I am not bothered by fictional spiders in movies or TV shows. I thought the spiders in this Mandalorian episode were sufficiently creepy, but not scary. I know my son will not want to rewatch that episode any time soon. _________________ *

Perhaps it is exactly the alien nature an un-spider-like appearance that triggered her reaction. They were just weird an unearthly enough to be creepy.
I liked the sequence. It had a lot of tension and worked well. Granted it ended in a deus ex machina, but I really didn't mind. _________________ __________________________________

The concept of time dilation isn't something to worry about in Star Wars. Remember, Star TREK is the setting where you need to concern yourself with time dilation. Star WARS is meant to gloss over such things and just go with the flow. |

Space Opera, not Hard Sci-Fi.
Also, not so surprising that The Child wants frog eggs bigger than his fist. Considering what he ate in the first season. |

It looked like he took hull plates from the body of the ship and sealed off part of the windows in the cockpit.
Still not sure how hyperdrive-less intersystem flight was supposed to work. It seemed he was traveling sublight around two different systems to arrive at a 3rd system. _________________ "The internet is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be unnatural." - Sheev Zuckerberg |

Well. It was a lot better than "hypersace skipping the Falcon". |
