No, Willow is no masterpiece, but it's fun. I'm happier the sequel series is being made for the sake of Warwick Davis (who deserves it) than truly being excited about it myself. The Mandalorian Season 1 turned out to be better than I expected though.

The Mouse demands his money from the IPs. All the IPs.

I mean... it was kinda a campy time in the sword & sorcery genre to begin with. I'd say Willow compares favorably with other 1980's fantasy films. But I am a known Willow fan. It's fundamentally a kid's movie, being aimed I'd guess at an age somewhere between The Never Ending Story or The Dark Crystal but younger than the intended audience of Conan of The Barbarian.

I just watched The Long Way Round on DVD. That actually has me thinking Kenobi miiiight work. For those who never saw it, in TLWR, Ewan MacGregor and two pals get on motorcycles and drive from London across all of Europe and Asia to the Bering Strait where they hop a plane to Alaska. Then they drive the motorcycles to New York where they fly back to London. They aren't playing characters, it's just them doing this for fun. Took like 15 weeks. They had two support vans that met up with them at international borders to make sure everything was going ok and to make sure they got through customs.

"Kid's movie" is a dangerously vague term for some of these. I feel that impaling people with swords, especially Madmartigan lowering General Kael down unto a sword, is inappropriate for young children.

For my son's first showing of AotC when he was 6, I edited out a few things. Now at age 11, RotS is his favorite SW film but he still looks away when Anakin Vader catches on fire, and again during the later closeup when he is all melty.

Well he's a better man than me then. Good job raising an empathetic person. It's hard to do.

"The Story of the Faithful Wookiee" (cartoon in the Holiday Special, 1978)
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (live action TV movie, 1984)
Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (live action TV movie, 1985)
Star Wars: Ewoks (cartoon series, 1985-86)
Star Wars: Clone Wars (the original "2D-animation" cartoon, 2003-05)

No word on the 80s Droids cartoon. And it's funny that they are only releasing the cartoon sequence from the Holiday Special and not the whole special itself. Maybe that adds a little credence to the notion that fan standards are inherently lower for SW animation than live action productions.

The two live action Ewok movies I saw waaaay back when they first showed up on TV. The only thing I remember from the first movie is Wicket repeating the words "star cruiser crash!" when the human girl was trying to teach him Basic and explaining how she and her family wound up on Endor. The only thing I remember about the second Ewok movie could probably be considered a spoiler, so I won't mention it here.

I remember avidly watching the Ewok cartoon when it was a Saturday morning cartoon. Don't remember anything about it though.

The LegendsClone Wars cartoon I have had on DVD (both seasons) for years but I haven't watched them in at least 13 years.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to get back to Disney+ to finish watching the last three episodes of Clone Wars season 7. Cool

Aww, that's very sweet of you, but you don't have to worry about spoiling something that came out over 35 years ago.

Since you are spoiler-minded, I'd like to get your feedback about the proposed spoiler policy update here. Thanks.

The tone of this video is classic Warrick Davis.

Did you know that SOLO is actually the only Star Wars movie he hasn't seen?

He and Anthony Daniels have such a classically British sense of humor.
