Bringing this back up.. On the subject of ion damage, would their synthflesh covering, potentially negate ion damage?

Is it synthflesh? It was pretty clear in the films that the mimetic polyalloy just looked and felt (?) like skin, not actually was skin.

On that basis, no.

That's not healing, that's the constituent molecules that make up the thing shifting position and hardening back into shape after they got "splashed" by bullet impacts. The film is pretty clear that the T1000 can vary its "hardness" as a subset of mimicry, too.

A T-800 would get some protection from Ion damage. It has living skin on the metal endoskeleton. It literally has a shield of meat between it and the incoming ion damage.

A T-1000 wouldn't. It doesn't have living skin, so if you shoot it, you're shooting the mechanical bits.

I kinda wonder how ion damage would work on a nanoswarm... I could see arguments for "it disables a small number of nanites" or "the ion damage travels through the connections, making them just as/more vulnerable to ion damage." I imagine it would depend on the author.

i was on abot the normal "Arnie" type T=101 series" Not the liquid metal t1000s.. BUT then if Ion damage affects THEm, what of that liquid metal race already IN starwars?? Those poly whatsist..

They mentioned Nano-droids in The Clone Wars Animated Series. They were used to turn a person into an IED.

It's never specified that the Polydroxol were liquid metal, merely that they were "denantium-based," and Wookieepedia is pretty vague on what exactly Denantium is. I mean, when you get right down to it, we're all composed of chemical compounds, so there's no guarantee that just because a being composed of what appears to be liquid mercury looks like a T-1000 means it will be affected by the same vulnerabilities as a droid or other piece of electronics.

And it's also worth considering that (if you take the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series into account), liquid metal Terminators (the T-1001, at least) are resistant/immune to high voltage electrical currents, so exactly how vulnerable they'd be to EMP is up for debate.

Video Link: SPOILERS if you haven't seen the TV Show

Not to mention she was essentially a bio-droid, fully organic except for a droid brain. There have been Terminators like that in the Connor-verse, but they weren't T-800 series.

When I know that a T1000 can mimic a tile floor or can continue to function when pieces of it are knocked off... or even scattered into tens of thousands of pieces... I'm inclined to rule that an ion blast would do extra damage to the T1000 on the basis that in order for its "anatomy" to be fully modular, every single molecule must itself be capable of being part of the "brain" of the T1000.

So anywhere you hit it, you're hitting its "vital ogans" (or components, or whatever). That is to say, it seems like each nanobot (or whatever) must contribute to he processing power, power generation, huristic processing, etc, rather than a certain subset being responsible for those functions.

So I say a T1000 is "weak against" ion damage in a similar way that a frost elemental would be weak against fire.

The closest thing I can remember is the T-1000 nearly bumping into a ceiling halogen lamp hanging down by its cord when it forced its way through the ruined roof of the elevator in the insane asylum after the heroes fled. But that wouldn't have electrocuted it...unless it touched the leads or whatever.

Naw, the T-1000 never got hit with electricity AFAIK.
