Something i have simmering on the back burner, is making Red Dwarf-type mining ships, some few of which predating the hyperdrive.
Thoughts?
Suggestions?

Sure, something that size is plausible in the SWU, but with hyperdrive having been around for thousands of years, locking something this size into one star system (or spending centuries on interstellar voyages to its next posting) is a little hard to justify. Maybe instead of no hyperdrive, give it something in the x10 to x20 rating (or even lower) on account of being so ancient.

The guys over in the Fractalsponge Discord often make the case that the galactic economy pretty much has to have ultra-bulk commercial vessels, several kilometers in length on average, of varying types in order to support a true interstellar economy. I have some ideas in this thread about building a galactic equivalent of the oil industry with hypermatter mining (which would require some truly massive deep space platforms). There's also mention in GG6 of "poundies": commercial mining ships big enough to devour and pulverize entire asteroids in the search for valuable minerals.
