I can imagine that...

I can also see the possibility of that becoming an actual rank down the road after some of us have been Grand Moffs for awhile... Might have to institute a whole set of Jedi rankings, like they have in the Jedi Knight games.

What about creating factions within Rancor Pit? When you register it asks for your affiliation: Imperial, Rebel, Jedi, or Fringe. Ranks are based on your selection. Now since there are only 4 Jedi ranks, Youngling to Master, it would take a lot more posts to raise in rank than for Imperial, since they have so many more ranks to progress through. I think that sounds cool. Fringer can have ranks like thug and gunslinger and goon and sergeant and veteran and stuff. Rebel is probably along the same lines as Imperial, just with different rank displays.

That's not a bad idea... although what I meant by Jedi rankings goes more along the lines of the ranks used in Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. There are a lot more than four ranks, so I figured it'd be appropriate.

Of course, all this is moot if either: 1. Loc doesn't want to do it, which is of course fine, or 2. Someone doesn't want to volunteer to step up and help him set it up.

But the different affiliations are not a bad idea. Good thinking, E!

The affiliations idea does sound interesting.

It sounds VERY interesting. It also sounds like a good bit of work, so it might never happen. It wouldn't be a bad idea for someone who started up their own SW D6 site, however, to institute that from the beginning...

Well, a majority consensus could go a long way in convincing Loc to change it. If it doesn't happen, no big deal. I would like to see it, but this site is so good that a little thing like avatar affiliation doesn't bother me.

I'm for it!

I'll talk with Loc and see if he thinks it is worth the time. It doesn't sound overly difficult. I agree Rebel ranks probably would be very similar (if not identical) to Imperials, and that a fourth faction can be the odd-end ranks as suggested. As for Jedi related ranks, I loosely based my forums' ranks on what we know in the movies and games.

In all honesty I must say that I don't much care for this different ranks idea.

To be honest, I like the idea of affiliations. But I do not like the idea of seperate ranks. In other words, something like a symbol under the avatar or name would be good for me (IMO). Having different ranks would only cause confusion IMO.

Or we COULD just leave it as-is, and simply revel in the wonderfulness that is this site already...
