Hi everyone,

The first D6 forum that I have run across, and it's great. I have been playing and GMing WEG Star Wars since it first came out, and I hope that this will be a place where I can get some good ideas, and who knows? Maybe someone will get something out of what I have done...

Anyway, I started a group back in March of 2003, and we were able to get together about once per month (it's about as often as we can do, since half of my group are married with kids) and unfortunately because of my work schedule we haven't been able to play since June. Oh well, time changes many things...

The original group consisted of a female Rebel SpecForce Marine, a smuggler, a Wookie, and a Young Jedi (odd combo, yes, but they have clicked very well). Later, a bounty hunter joined the group because of a misunderstanding (we'll get to that later).

I have found a good way to do adventures is to do them in a series, with titles for each episode and a script to start them off (similar to the way that Star Trek II through VI were done). So I entitled the first episode "The Freedom Run." The group started off imprisoned on a Zygerian slaver ship (I decided to start the game "in media res," if I have the proper phrase; no one knew why they were imprisoned and we didn't go into any such details) with everyone but the Young Jedi chained in one room. They managed to escape when the slave ship is attacked by an unknown fleet, and through the hustle and bustle of other slaves managing to escape, they run across the Young Jedi trapped in a stasis field, guarded by four slavers. They dispatch them and free the Jedi. After wandering around they finally find the main hangar bay, only to see the smuggler's ship (the Big Bubba) lifting off, escaping what is now a badly wrecked slaver ship. The smuggler, slightly ticked off, wants to get his ship back so they manage to hijack one of the last remaining shuttles and followed his ship down to a nearby planet. The exact details escaped me on what and how they exactly did so, but the group did recover the Big Bubba and they managed to escape what was left of the slavers.

Now, I didn't do a lot of details, such as why they were captured in the first place or who it was that attacked the ship on which they were imprisoned, because based on what I have in mind those factors simply were not important. However, if down the road (say, Episode Twelve, if there ever is one) I ran out of ideas, well, perhaps the slavers are trying to round up their former captives and they finally found a few of them...

Anyway, after that we kind of clowned around for a bit, and the group returned to the home planet of the smuggler's boss, a Twi'lek named Zuaqui. While their, the player who played the Jedi had to leave so the rest of the group decided to rob a casino. They did, and got away with about 9,000 credits (I know, I know, that is totally unrealistic. But the purpose of an RPG is to have fun, and the things these guys were doing to get away with it had me in stitches, so I let them do so. There will be future consequences for their actions, though).

Well, that is the first of about three episodes that we were able to do, and in a future post I will go into Episode II.

Like I said, it's great to have a forum like this. Hopefully you will be seeing a lot of me, and feel free to write here or to my e-mail address any time you choose!
