I was wondering if anyone can give me the scoop on Platt's Smuggler's Guide? Do you like the book? I'm trying to decide if it's worth spending any money on. Thanks for the help.

Yes, get this book. The title says it all for what its subject matter relates to. If you play a smuggler or have friends that do, it is worth it. If you only play soldiers of the Rebellion or New Republic, or Jedi, you can skip it. Although, if I recall, it does have lots of neat locations in detail that are interesting to role-play in, no matter what character type.

I've read elsewhere that it covers a lot of the same material as other books do. Think the other person just had a bad taste in their mouth, or does it cover good new stuff?

It is a great book! Can't stress that enough. You have a ship, get it. You are a smuggler, get it. You want to know a guy who knows a guy who's friends with this dude, get it.

As for other books, Platt's Starport guide is a great companion, though I have not seen it. Also, Player's guide to Tapani is a good companion as well.

I use it, I love it. The Starport Guide is good too, even though it's the most poorly-bound WEG book I've ever laid eyes on, pages will fall out if you even look at it the wrong way.

If the Smuggler's Guide is duplicating information from other sources, I must not have stumbled across those other sources yet because it was all new to me.
