That's especially weird because I used a generic font family (fantasy) and not a specific font! And I also use firefox and I've tried visiting using firefox from both mac os and from ubuntu and redhat linux. Mac shows a really funky font, ubuntu and redhat show a relatively bland font. Hmm... well the way to fix that is to use images for the titles, since those don't depend on the fonts of the machines loading them. I'll work on it, in the mean time I'll pick an even more generic font-family _________________ The Road Goes On - My personal blog.

This is what I get through Mac Firefox:
I'll have to take a look on my Windows system when I get to my lab. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

Weird... one of my machines shows the font fine while the other one shows the jacked-up font! But to stay on topic, a one stop shop data base would be totally awesome!! _________________ "Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well before I can do that, we've gotta come up with a better name. Suggestions?
Edit: PS. I'm still working on the search function. SQL is being unhappy and not working the way it's supposed to. I'm trying to figure out why -- it may be that my MySQL server is borked, it may be that the Debian Power-PC architecture is borked (likely, since all sorts of little things don't seem to work so well).
One of my projects this summer will probably be to get and set up a nice new server on Intel x86 architecture. But until then I'll keep trying to figure out what's wrong with the current server and see if there isn't a fix floating around the web somewhere.
Does anyone here know MySQL? _________________ The Road Goes On - My personal blog.

I've tried to set up a similar thing in the past and have had great difficulty, and ultimately, failure. I'm not a programmer, however, and didn't know what I was doing.
Setting up a good search protocol seems to be a failing aspect of many SQL set ups; I haven't used one that deals with multiple keywords at a time very well. Good luck. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

Well, I leave these technical aspects to the rest of you, all I'll do in that regard is complain when things don't work and demand loads of nifty search features that are impossibly hard to implement (how about being able to limit a search to Shuttles with a Hull between 3D and 4D+2 ?!). My contributions can be with the stats, images and maybe the visual layout of the site.
As for the name, beyond the ones I suggested earlier, how about a reference to WEG: "The Ultimate Galaxy Guide". or better yet: "Galaxy Guide to EVERYTHING" ! _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Testing out a new look for the database (the Guide?). Come take a look and tell me what you think!
http://hobbiton.theroadgoeson.com/sw-test/index.php
Also, I got the guide a slightly easier domain name for the time being until I get it fully off the ground and give it a real domain name, it's currently online here: http://starwars.theroadgoeson.com.
Editted to add: I should warn that the sw-test linked above is the test site. So it's buggy as all hell and very under construction. I linked it to get feedback on the look. If you try any of the other links or features don't be surprised if you get a pile of php errors _________________ The Road Goes On - My personal blog.

Nice. This thing is starting to shape up. In the entry text, maybe you could include that the stats will come from all the WEG books, conversions of Wizards' d20 stats and Fan-Made stats for official unstatted items.
And I like "The Galaxy Guide" as a name. Short, to the point, and referential. Although I do like the humor of "Galaxy Guide to EVERYTHING".
I already sent Vong all the stats, and am currently in the (long) process of renaming and cataloguing all the images before sending him. Already sent Aliens and am mostly done with Creatures. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Yep, and its a great help. Ive parsed the Alien stats, and all the weapons but the artillery into a database format.
I will keep working on them in my off time, and when i finish exams put a bunch of time into this. This is a feature that i am going to include into my character building program
But I am gonna be working more closely with Alcon as time goes on, and we will start to see progress in leaps and bounds i believe. _________________ The Vong have Arrived
