Of course, there is some logic in all the player firing at the guy who's standing still and firing at them, instead of at the guys doing sommersaults away from the fight

Lmao. I just picture a bunch of pirates doing backflips and fancy dance moves away from the battle field for some reason when I read that.

But, something I like to do is combine the parry skills with base skill, saying that if you're good at Brawling, you know what it takes to be good at brawling, so you know how to avoid blows from people who are punching you.

Example
Bob attacks Fred with his Brawl roll of 12 (using 4D) and Fred counters the brawl with his own brawl skill (also 4D), getting 12 as well. (I seriously rolled that). I don't have the books with me so I can't check if you need to exceed the difficulty number or just match it, so I'm not sure at this point, but you get the idea I am trying to make.

This also goes for the Lightsaber skill

I also like to let characters dodge melee/brawling attacks, because I picture it like this : *Swings the sword* *Moves out of the way slightly* *Swings again* *Moves again*, that seems like a dodge, more so than a parry, I haven't come out with a negative for this system yet, other than the fact that if you fail a parry you're going to lose a weapon or get punched in the face, compared with almost losing your arm or losing a limb altogether.

If anyone has any ideas about what I could do I would like to hear them

If you read the melee parry/brawl parry skill, it does incorporate dodging the blow not just blocking it.

Well, like I've said before, I don't actually OWN any of the D6 books, so I don't have access to them all the time that I am typing. I wasn't aware of that. But I guess I could do what Gry said and have them just book it out of Melee range, which if you're using Dodge instead of the right skill I am sure you want to do anyway

Yes, but parrying implies sticking close by to continue fighting. Using dodge is avoidance of combat completely.
