The Imperial Flying Core

Motto: "We Fly, We Die"

As part of the Tarkin Military Reforms begun just before the Battle of Yalvin was the planed formasion of a forth branch of Imperial Military Service, a seperate Flying Core of Elite Pilots and Flight Crews Kulled from the Best the Imperial Navy had to Offer and equiped with the the Newly developed TIE Interceptor and Advanced modles of the Newlly introduced TIE Bomber, as well as other craft still in Devlopment.

the Army was to recive their own Aviation Branch using the remaining TIE fighters and their Veriants and what ever TIE/in's and eerily modle TIE Bombers could be spared after meeting the Navys needs. the Navy was to continue using TIE/in's eerily modle Tie Bombers and upgraded (using TIE/in generation technology) verrsions of the TIE/rc & TIE/fc as well as the TIE Interceptors left over from meating the Newily formed Flying Cores needs.

The Flying Core was orignialy pland to stage from the Death Stars, Super Star Destroyers and to be stasiond on key Worlds. the Distruction of the First Death Star and the quickning of the pace of construction the Second saw the formasion of the Imperial Flying Core delayed indefentily. The fall of the Empire at Endor finily put paied to any plans to form a true Imperial Flying Core, though some Imperial Remnents did form pale imitasions of the orignal planed force using what TIE Interceptors and TIE/in's and Bombers they had avalible.

The First band of Candidtates for the Imperial Flying Core where both Skilled and Daring but displayed a Galows Humor from experincing the closing gap in Speed and Manuverability (the Imperial Pilots only advantage apart fro Numbers) of even the latest TIE/in's and the new crop of Rebel Fighters that out guned them, out armored them, and even had the advantage of Sheilds, even the introduction of the TIE Interceptor seams to have bean to little to late to reverse quality even as they Salavated over the new craft.

For those who are woundering where this is coming from, in a game I'm in playing Imperials we have lost 12 NPC piloted TIE fighters and almost a PC three times in 18 hours of game play. untill to night I'd forgoten how easy those things are to kill.

You really miss those nice Rebel shields when you're flying TIEs. Had a player eject some bolts and various metal bits while running from TIEs. They shredded themselves on impact.
