April 25th is ANZAC day. A day where we remember those that have fallen in battle, and those that did come home, and its a day that we thank them for their sacrifices.

So to those of you that have served your country, for those that are serving, and to those that lost someone that served. Thank you. Lest we forget.

Never heard of ANZAC day, is that a local holiday? We have Veteran's Day and Memorial Day here in the US, which serve a similar function.

Yeah, never heard of it either... but we have a Remembrance Day in Canada, but it's in November.

Yep. Your Remembrance Day is Veterans Day in the USA, 11/11. It used to be called Armistice Day, as it commemorates the end of World War I. Now it honors all veterans, dead or alive.

Our Memorial Day is the last Monday in May, and originally honored dead Union soldiers from the American Civil War; now it honors anyone who falls in any war or military action.

Ahh, ok. ANZAC Day honors the Australian and New Zealand dead from the Battle of Gallipoli, in World War I. (ANZAC = Australian and New Zealand Army Corps)

Hail the Fallen!

Indeed so it'll only be those of us who live in New Zealand or Australia who remember.

Sadly I don't think there are any surviving ANZACs left but it is still worth remembering those who fell.

Hey... I'll honor the memory of ANY man or woman who fought (fights) to save my, your, or their freedom. Any person who has laid their life down in that persuit deserves recognition and rememberance.

So, tonight, I'll hoist a drink in their honor.

Indeed. I may crack open the bottle of mead I've been saving and raise a horn in their honor.

Where I'm at, the Aussies held a vigil, but alas I arrived a couple days late. So I was not able to participate. But I'll drink one of my three beers a day in their honor... to my fellow Military Members! You will be remembered...!

It is that day in April where Australians and New Zealanders remember the sacrifices made by our troops, to preserve the freedoms we have today. April 25th ANZAC day. So I give thanks to those soldiers that fought and are still fighting for us.

Lest we forget.

Here's to all the ANZACs, for they fought upon my soil to defend it a long, long time ago - specifically the Australian 8th Division.

Today is Rememberance day. Marking the end of World War I, we remember those that didn't come home, as well those that did, but are no longer with us
