"Project Mynock" was a system designed to remove the qualitative abilities of the Rebel Alliance, and enhance the quantitative system the Imperial Forces enjoyed.

A Tie Bomber was emptied out of it's warhead system, and was fitted with the most powerful sensor and communications jammers and decoy systems that could be fitted into the craft. While it was more than effective, it's limited production numbers prevented them from making great strides against the Rebel Forces. In addition, in order to provide power to all the extra equipment, as well as make extra space for the decoy emitters, the Laser Cannons were also removed from the craft, making it unpopular with pilots. (The comments that "Well, you still have ejector seats!" also did not sit well with the pilots, and almost came to blows in some briefing rooms.).

These systems effect any ship that does not have the current algorithim that it functions on. As these mathematical equaisions were created literally minutes before combat commenced, and were desinged to last only one combat situation, it is literally next to impossible to break through the transmissions from the "Screaming Mynock".

Game Notes:
A Sensor Jammer that renders all Starfighter-Scale Enemy Targeting Systems within 35 Spacial Units useless. (No bonus from Fire Control is available to any and all Starfighter Vessels, and this includes Skipray Blastboats!).

A Communication Jammer that will render *ANY* communication except on a very narrow and constantly changing band preventing enemy planning and communication (It jams all radio and hyperspace communication within 50 spacial units).

A Decoy System that allows the Tie Bomber and up to 12 other fighters appear as other craft individually (IE: Other types of Starfighters, such as Z-95 Headhunters), or, together, a pair of Light Freighters to sensors. This is not, however, immune to direct vision (Read: Look out the bloody window!).

shouldn't it be called a decoy vessel? Isn't the technical definition of a combat vessel is something that can fight?

bleh... i think it should still be called a "decoy vessel" but was immer... Rolling Eyes war machines aren't all technically "combat" machines

Strange that this ship has a less 'SU" range for its jammer than does that simple pods that the Owing has......

No it isn't. The O-Wing takes the Technology that was in the Prototype Stage of Project Mynoc.

The O-Wing came out after the Original Trilogy, while Project Mynoc was around during A New Hope.

An EW variant Tie Bomber, this will work great with my Imperial Specs op Tie-Transport. I especially like it's ability to "ghost" itself and other friendlys to sensors as other craft. Nice conversion Ray Wink Can always use more Tie variants, especially bombers.

Where did you find the inspiration for this?

Came to me one day, that's it.

But one of the X-Wing novels had a pair of X-Wings use their systems to imitate a certain YT-1300 Freighter that was "Not running within normal parameters". Wink

That was the start. The rest comes from reading a lot of David Weber.

If it is acceptable to you Ray, I would like to include this in my Imperial Spec Ops book I am working on. This fits right in (I already have so many evil mission roles in mind). One of these in a flight with the Tie-Bomber transport conversion, covers them as looking like a freighter, then just before they drop the commandos *BAM* broad band comms jamming! Rebels never know what hit them.

Yep, go right ahead. Just tell me how it works out.

It's a common theam in Space Opera (And even Military SF) that people rely on sensors (Even today people don't argue *TOO* much with Radar Returns!), and not enough on the Mk. 1 Eyeball.

Even in a Customs Checkpoint, it'll be awhile before two "Low Priority Freighters" on the sensors get even a Flyby Check. Unless they try to leave the area, which they won't. Wink

Just make sure they fly *LIKE* Freighters. They start screaming in and manouvering like Bombers, the jig is up.
