I been going through different topics on this forum and have seen alot of great ideas concerning how to Gamemaster and establishing the Star Wars Universe.

I would love to see a comprehensive sourcebook taking all the ideas of the many talented posters on this forum and placed into a single source.

I thinking of practical tools that gamemaster can use to establish settings and bring the adventure to life. Think maybe a little like WOTC (ohh the devil) Universe Guide (can't remember the exact title, at work).

I seen things like someone compiling a list of drinks and food found in cantinas and resturants. or even a list of slang words used in the galaxy. Discriptions of various setttings like cantinas, bases and little adventure nuggets for each location.

I know some of this has been done before but never in one guide. I know this sounds like a huge undertaking and it is, but I think it would be a great boon to new gamemasters and help spark ideas for more veteran GMs.

Please tell me what you think and any revisions or additions are most welcome.

I don't really know how to make a book but I am willing to learn or turn it over to someone who does, and simply compile data for the project.

Thank you in advance

WEG's Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments of the Rim contains a good listing of stuff that can be put in: drinks, merc units, news agencies, & a few new spots (as well as a guide to Rebel slang). Check it out!

I second this wholeheartedly. My favorite book of the bunch. Also has some good in-universe humor.

You know what would also be very useful, in my opinion? If you put a list of 100 common name parts for ships. So if you can't think of anything off hand you could just look at the list and throw a few of them together. "Oh, uh. The name of the ship is....-Draws a blank-" that always happens to me. The list wouldn't have to just for ships either, it could be for things like Cantina's and other establishments.

Once I had this problem for a Gallofree Yards medium transport. I looked at my own foot and came up with Dusty Toenails. Very Happy

That's a great Idea Darth Mortis.

As to the fragments of the rim, your right that is a great supplement and one of my favorites. I would like to expand on that idea and make it more comprehensive.

So perhaps we can start with Darth Mortis's Idea

Common Ship parts and there names. maybe we could do a chart with names of companies, parts and descriptions that you could mix and match.

for example Sienar Systems coaxial compensator or Republica Ion accelerator.

Any more Ideas keep them coming... Very Happy

There are a bunch in the Star Wars Sourcebook. Will find and list them all out when I can get to it.

Alright, well you guys seem to have mis-understood what I said (Don't take it the wrong way, I'm glad you did. It would definitely be useful to have a list of parts for a ship). But, what I meant was like, a table with a bunch of adjectives for ship names. Such as "Black, Star, Gold" etc, etc. Because I can never think of names for ships and the like.
Embarassed
I guess I should have been more clear. But then again, some of the greatest inventions were pure accident!

It's been suggested elsewhere in the forums that it's really helpful to have a list of already-created character names handy when you GM, and I've already found this useful. Helps, too, if you know the name is for a male, female, human, or alien.

It could work the same way for ship names, too. A table like you're suggesting would work well for creating such a list or having it ready at the game table. A thesaurus (book or online) works for me. That way, if I know there will be a warship, I can look up an adjective like "strong" and that will lead to names like Invincible, Indomitable, Formidable. The same for adjectives like "fierce," "fast," "sneaky," whatever. I used to use the same technique for character names, changing a couple letters to sound better.
