Have D6 stats ever been created for a Stingbeam pistol? I believe the D20 stats were included on page 70 of Star Wars Gamer 5, although I disagree with the description in this source stating that it was always non-lethal. I didn't see this item included in Gry's Equipment Stats book. |

I haven't seen any stats. I take this is like the one Lando uses in the Lando Calrissian Adventures (which I'm currently reading).
If need be a sporting blaster pistol might suffice. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

It's there, Stun Blasters section, first item. If I'm not mistaken, that is one of Gary Astleford's old Rebellion conversions... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Whoops, my apologies. I guess it would help if I was looking in the right stats book - I did a quick word search in the "equipment" stats book instead of the "weapons" one. Thanks, Gry.
I would dispute the stats listed, though, based on the source material. As Orgaloth indicated, this is the weapon from L. Neil Smith's Lando books, in which (Flamewind of Oseon) Lando kills an assailant with a close-range shot from his Stingbeam. I'm not sure why the Gamer entry only indicated stun damage.
How's the read going, Orgaloth? I'm reading them now myself. They are a little slow, in my opinion - I prefer Daley's Han Solo books - but still fairly entertaining. I didn't realize until recently looking over Smith's web page that he is apparently a very strong Libertarian and NRA activist - his strong gun rights position (a little overboard in my opinion - sorry if I've offended any NRA folks) is pretty obvious once you realize that, particularly in the second book where Lando is imprisoned, and nearly executed, for carrying a weapon. |

Not bad. I'm on the last few pages of the last book. I know what you mean, compared to the current novels it's slow, but you also have to remember when it was first published, as with Splinter of the Minds Eye. It's enjoyable enough. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

Did you catch how Smith's favorite word is "preternatural", just like Timothy Zahn's was "sardonic"? I lost count of how many times either of these two writers used their favorite words.
Did you understand what he meant when Smith talked (several times) about the Falcon's "starboard gun turret"? I wonder if he was confused with the placement of the quad guns. I see that Smith included an e-mail address on his webpage - I may send him a few questions and see if he responds. Let me know if you'd like me to pass any questions/comments on to him. I wonder if WotC will ever solicit his help in doing a Lando/Centrality Source Book. |
