"Hell" exists in Star Wars. Han calls it when he's told his Tauntaun won't last that long after it gets cold.

"Blaster Bolts" is another, very mild curse, on the same lines as "Darn".

'Nother touch of slang, not a curse, mind, is "Lightfight", which is used in the same manner as we use "Gunfight" in real life. Makes sense due to the nature of blasters.

But Han didn't use hell as a swear, he said he'd see them in hell. So hell at least exsists as a place in the afterlife.

A curse that's seeing a lot of use in the new Clone Wars comics is "Murglak", or something like this. Apparently it can be used in an infinity of ways: "Son of a Murglak", "Murglak face", "Dirty Murglak", etc. It probably refers to some unpopular animal....

"Bantha Poodoo" ("Bantha Fodder" or "Bantha Food" in Huttese.) is one that's continued on from Return of the Jedi and used a few other times in the series.

Or, going with my group's traditional insult, "Dirt Suckin' Nerf Humper!!!"

It takes a bit practice to come up with star wars slang words, but my huttese is improving and it gets talked a lot in the movies. While not every character will speak huttese, it's certainly an influential language among smugglers, pirates and bounty hunters.

As long as the group realizes that they are trying to be faithful to the setting and not just "nice people", a ban on modern slang is a good thing. Not to go into detail, but when I world build for fantasy games I look at the origins of our own swear words and say 'what would these origins yeild in other worlds?'

For example "F-Bomb" (god I hate that immature euphamism) has no basis in any other world, as it is a pheonetic construct.

the synonym for feces beginning with SHI- would, as feces is demeaning in any world.

Others can be reached, but my biggest interest in this thread is what curses everyone has in their games...

My group refers to clones as "Sludgers" because my character, a rogue clone, eats what they perceive as sludge (high protein amino-acid puree)

There could be some species or culture that is very literal in their speech, and takes offence to swearing. Preferably a creature similar to the Wookie, but with sharp implements for eating.

In our games if a player swears he or she loses their scene or action, whatever is applicable at the time. But when the Gm (me) swears its a little trickier. Usually means that the players succeed automatically at their action or extra Cp at the end of the session.

Now that's a harsh rule to put on a New Zealander, or an Aussie 8)
