I'm making this post on behalf of RancorPitBooks.
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/RancorPitBooks/

We are looking for a few good Cantinas, Casinos, Nightclubs & Restraunts in the Star Wars universe!

RancorPitBooks is working on a project that will help bring to life the food & drink establishments in your games, and we're asking for your help!

Have you ever wanted to leave your mark on the Star Wars D6 universe? If so, we are looking for a collection of Cantinas, Casinos, Nightclubs, and Restraunts for our current project. Do you have an idea for a Nightclub that you've never put to paper? Do you have a Restrant that your players frequent in your games? Are you planning a Casino for an upcoming campaign? Take the time to put your write your ideas down and submit them to us!

Location should include:
-History of the establishment.
-Some information about the area the establishment can be found in and external description.
-A description of the establishment's interior, including security and quality of service.
-A list of important NPCS (Both staff and regulars) to include character information and stats.
-Adventure ideas? (We reserve the right to include our own at will!)

The Rules:
-Each person may submit as many locations as they want, but they should be from one of the four categories we are planning to represent (Cantina, Casino, Club/Nightclub, or Restraunt.)
-Materials should be appropriate to the setting (PG/PG-13). After all, kids & families play this game.
-Locations should be of your own creation. Locations that exist in other materials will be rejected.
-We reserve the right to rewrite/reorganize your location if something dosnt look quite right. The original writer will be invited to participate in the rewrite in the event that we do make any changes (Beyond spelling or gramar errors.)
-We will add up to 4 submitted locations to each category. If more locations are submitted than we have room for, the locations will be judged on two things: Quality of submission & How interesting the location is.
-Your Rancor Pit username will appear in the credits unless you specifically request a different name to appear in the credits.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them in this thread!

Oh man, I've been waiting for something like this! Here's my spot out of the Tellendorf Deployment adventure I ran a few years ago: Bosco's! I also have a small map of the place, though I'd have to send it to you via other means. Let me know what you think!

Category: Cantina

Bosco’s

Location

Bosco's is located east of Mesca City on planet Tellandorf, a world which sits along the outside of the Karlien Sector and directly across from the New Republic-Imperial Dominion Borderland Region. It consists of a small beach-side bar surrounded by sand-molded concrete walls, just outside of the east gate of Mesca Fighter Base, located due south of Mesca Starport. Directly east is the Mesca Paradise Resort, another popular locale in the area for tourists and civilians alike.

History

Some fifteen standard years ago, an NCO by the name of Bosco Reinhart retired from the Tellandorf Ground Defense Force after twenty years of military service. The Empire's presence on his homeworld persisted to be a thorn in the retiree's side, as any locale that became popular with his comrades in their downtime would soon draw the attention of the Imps, who would in turn harass the Defense Force personnel and the bar staff as well.

After several instigated altercations which led to the unlawful arrest of one of Bosco's close friends, the older man had enough. He was determined to establish his own place where his friends and the locals could relax and unwind without the unwanted appearance of Imperial troops. Taking most of the credits he saved for his retirement, Bosco establish his own place, buying the property just outside of Mesca Fighter Base on the beach-side. It started out small, just a wooden shack with some stools and used tables, a fridge and the few brands of brew that Bosco managed to buy or acquire through his TDF buddies. But over time, the bar grew bigger as more and more customers poured in. The holosign "Imperials Not Welcome!" in bright red aurebesh seemed to attract the crowd that Bosco cherished.

Today, some twelve years after the Battle of Endor, the Empire has long deserted Tellandorf... and Bosco's still stands!

Amenities

Galactic Hot-Spots Review Journal
Establishment: Bosco’s
Owner: Bosco Reinhart
Amenities: Food, drinks, gambling, entertainment (live music and simulator pods)
Cover: None
Security: Bosco, various TDF volunteers
Illegal Activities: Contacts, information brokering
Final Review: 3 supernovas

Live House by the Beach

Bringing back old Tellandorf traditions of live music along the beach, Bosco had a stage built during his second renovation, as both a reward to the TDF customers who loved to jam on their downtime, and as a potential lure for an audience. The scheme worked and during the weekends, music groups are hired to play, paid for by a light cover charge at the door during Live Nights. Occasionally, bands have been known to stop by during their tours along the Rim, among them Starbreaker from the Colonies, Dengar and the Bounty Hunters, and several years ago, The Emperor's New Clothes before their final break-up.

Up for a little action in the cockpit?

At the request from several of the pilots and maintainers of the Starfighter Corps (and with the help of more than few donations), eight used simulator pods were procured for the enjoyment of the patrons, each capable of simulating twenty different types of modern-era starfighters. Competitions between TDF and Allied squadrons are common, as well as gambling on those competitions. And speaking of gambling...

Sabacc Leagues

Although frowned upon by the brass on Mesca Fighter Base, Bosco permits Sabacc tournaments in his establishment, provided that players bring both the decks and the credits to pay their gambling debts. All disputes, however, are settled outside of the establishment.

Prices

Meals
Catch of the day: 4 credits/meal
Bosco’s Home Cookin’: 9 credits/meal
Something out of the ordinary: 17 credits/meal
Drinks
On tap/local brews: 2 credits/pint
Tellandorf Specialties:
Zawa Liquor: 3 credits/shot
Zawa Juice: 5 credits/glass
Zawa Beer: 3 credits/pint
Has to be mixed: 5-6 credits/glass
Imported Brews: 6-7 credits/pint

Recreation
Live Nights: 10 credits/person (weekends)
Simulator Pods: 1 credit per game (free during tournament play)
TDF/Allied Incentives: No charge on simpod usage; first round on the house for members

Security

Bosco Reinhart's sheer intimidation factor is legendary among Mesca City's residents, should someone actually anger him. Having experienced countless barroom brawls during his own military career, the old man can still wipe the floor with the common drunk and stand toe to toe with the younger infantry grunts. But if at any time the situation should be too much for even Bosco to handle, there are more than enough TDF loyalists on hand to deal with someone causing trouble in their favorite watering hole.

Crowd

Most of Bosco's regular customers consist of members of the Tellandorf Defense Force, especially the pilots of the Starfighter Corps. Bosco's love of starfighters and dreams of flying endeared him to not only the pilots, but also the enlisted crew chiefs and specialists of the Maintenance Group. A good number of allied flyers and maintainers from across the sector and the region find their way here through comradery. TGDF personnel are also welcome to the bar, and many of them either know or have heard of Bosco Reinhart.

Tourists and the local civilians are tolerated, provided they are respectful to the staff and to the military personnel who frequent the place. But nothing will force the ejection of a patron faster than the admission of being Imperial or expressing loyalty for the Imperial Dominion. The owner has a long, harsh memory of the Empire's tenure on Tellandorf, and his feelings of enmity towards them and their previous treatment of his homeworld will not fade away.

Is this going to be kind of like Wretched Hives of Scum and Villiany, just more of them?

Yeah. One of our guys had put together a Food & Beverages project that we are expanding on by adding a section on games of chance and a few example locations to flesh things out a bit.

Ok, how about this one:
The Club at the end of the street
From the alley ways, where catwalks gently sway, you can hear the sound of Otis and the voice Marving Gaye. In this smokey room is a jukebox that plays all night, where people dance real close, beneath the pulse of neon lights. There's the downtown smell of cooking, from the flame of an open grill. In the background there's a sax and a big bass pumping, and you just can't sit still. There's a trio up on stage playing. While couples are gently swaying.

The Owner is named Elton. Lead singer is Marvin, other band members are Otis and Johnny. It's located in the back alleys of Coruscant, at the end of a dead end street. Like a well kept secret, were everybody who's anybody meets.

Ok, sorry, don't mean to be goofy, just feeling punchy from lack of sleep.

I've got some rules for Sabaac that I've used a few times. If you'd like, you can use them in the sourcebook.

I'd be happy to get it to the guy who is working on the games of chance section of the book. I'm sure he'd enjoy looking it over.

-Your Rancor Pit username will appear in the credits unless you specifically request a different name to appear in the credits.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them in this thread!

I really like this idea. We seem to have a cantina or bar in close to every scenario, and it can easily feel like the same old name-less establishment every time. Will the final product be posted on the Rancor Pit?

Yes, once the project is done, we will be posting it here on the forums for anyone who wants a copy.

In addition to the collection of locations that will be presented in the book, we also plan to include some guidelines/ideas for creating your own establishments (Think of is as an expanded version of what is in the back of the Wretched Hives book.)

There is actually a cantina that I'm working on for the project that will hopefully get posted in the next few days. Just need to put together the NPCs for it.

No deadline. Its an open invitation to contribute. At the moment, we plan to present +12 extablishments in the book (We are looking for at least three examples for each category). At the moment, we are up to two (I've got a Cantina that just needs the final touches on some NPCs before I can post it here.)

Right now, other people are working on the other chapters of the book, so its just me working on the Cantinas/Casinos/Nightclubs/Restraunts chapters at the moment. I figure that I'll be able to put together one establishment every week or two. Needless to say, additional contributions will speed the book along significantly. Wink

Finished up the Cantina I've been working on.

I'm trying to decide if I want to work on a Nightclub or a Resteraunt next, . . .

Soggy Bottom

-History:
The Soggy Bottom has rested far below Coral City on Mon Calamari for decades, there are almost as many stories about how the cantina came into being as there are individuals who frequent the place. The only sure thing is that the Soggy Bottom’s two owners are constantly arguing between themselves as to which of them actually owns the cantina.

-Location:
The Soggy Bottom is a modest sized tavern, heavily overgrown by massive barnacles. While it may have once been an ancient starship, it has been so heavily modified that its nearly impossible to tell what it once was Resting on the ocean floor, it lies far below the capital, Coral City and appears on no official map. The cantina is accessible in two ways. One, through a large moon pool near the establishment’s bar. And Two, through a lift tube in alarmingly poor repair. Faint light from shining from the algae covered windows barely illuminates the area around the Soggy Bottom.

-Inside:
The inside of the Soggy Bottom is a damp, leaky mess. The entire interior is in poor repair, with wobbly tables and the occasional drip from the ceiling overhead. The alcohol laced puddles on the floor and the dirty glasses at many of the empty tables are testament to the lack of effort put into keeping the establishment clean. The drinks are strong, but overpriced. The bar serves a drink unique to the cantina called “Green Fuzz” which is brewed from a local seaweed. The locals speak of the drink in hushed, horrified tones and make sport of getting outsiders to try the vile substance. The food, if you can call it that, appeals only to the locals, and the very strong stomached. In one corner, a single Sabacc table hosts frequent games. Near the far wall rests a barnacle encrusted jukebox, the music blaring from the old machine is of obvious aquatic origins.

-House Rules:
While the Soggy Bottom has no obvious scanners or holocorders for security, patrons find themselves under the watchful eye of the staff’s security personnel if they enter armed.

-Staff:
Name: Quattler Vopren
Species: Quarren
Sex: Male

Equipment: Vibro Blade (STR+3D), Deck Sweeper Stunning Blaster (6D Stun, 45digree arc),
Dirty Towel.

Quattler grew up in the undercity. His entire life was spent preying on others for survival. That is, until he gained half ownership of the Soggy Bottom. On a busy night, he will help his partner, Krabbl serve drinks, but most of his time is spent either brewing “Green Fuzz” in the back, or standing behind the bar within easy reach of the Deck Sweeper he keeps stashed under the bar, almost as if he is hoping for a chance to use the weapon.

He tends to be short with patrons in the bar, and actively looks for new ways to aggravate his partner, Krabbl.

Krabbl has always been down on his luck, always fallen short on his “Sure thing” bets and get rich quick schemes. While the sly little Mon Calamari man is all smiles, and always friendly, he’ll gladly try to talk you out of every credit you have by offering you a chance to “Invest” in his latest scheme.

Most of his time at the Soggy Bottom is spent arguing with his partner Quattler Vopren.

Technical: 2D
Move: 10
Equipment: Protective Vest (+2 physical, +1 energy), Blaster Rifle (5D), Knife (STR+1D), 3 Stun Grenades (6D Stun), 100 credits.

Bodo’s past is a mystery, and you’re likely to only receive lightly veiled threats if you ask about it. Most nights, she can be found setting at her usual table, alone, watching the holoviewer above the bar. She’ll take nearly any job, so long as the credits are good, and she’s known for bringing in, even dangerous criminals, alive.

She tends to be wary of people she dosnt know, but she’s willing to talk with nearly anyone so long as they keep a full glass of the local brew in front of her.

Name: Koora

Brawling 3D, Climbing/Jumping 4D+1, Swimming 5D+2
Technical: 2D

Koora is a young male Mon Calamari. He is very friendly to everyone he meets and he commonly offers to buy drinks for his “New Friend(s)” (Usually with their own credits.)

Name: Harry Zellon
Species: Any
Sex: Any
Dexterity: 2D
Dodge 4D, Pick Pocket 3D+2
Knowledge: 3D
Alien Species 5D, Intimidation 5D+2, Streetwise
4D+1, Willpower 6D+2
Mechanical: 2D
Perception: 3D
Bargain 4D+1, Con 6D+2, Gambling 7D+1,
Persuasion 6D+2, Search 6D
Strength: 2D
Brawling 3D
Technical: 2D
Move: 10
Equipment: Fashionable clothes, deck of Sabacc
cards, 1,500 credits worth of sabacc chips, 100
credits.

Harry is always looking for a game. He really dosnt care what he plays, so long as the money is good. He spends his nights telling tales of the games he’s played in, usually overstating his winning from those games.

-Adventure Seeds:
One of the owners asks the character’s to obtain some of the rare seaweed used to create “Green Fuzz.” Once the characters arrive in the area that the seaweed grows, they discover that the plants in the area are dieing. Upon further investigation, they learn that a local business is dumping hazardous chemicals in the area. If the characters decide to report the company (Who is bribing several members of the local government), they quickly find themselves hunted by Bounty Hunters.

Someone offers the characters a large sum of credits to discover the real origins of the Soggy Bottom. As the characters start to investigate, the locals become openly hostile towards the characters. No matter how hard the characters try, they are unable to learn anything about the establishment’s history other than rumors. When it becomes obvious that the character arent going to learn anything useful, they are contacted by the Soggy Bottom’s owners. They offer to pay the characters to give up their search, explaining that “The mystery is what gives the Cantina its appeal.”

A distant underwater explosion causes the soggy bottom to become a lot more leaky than normal. The proprietors hire the characters to help patch up the leaks before the whole cantina collapses. After a mad cap scramble to patch all the leaks. They are hired to find out the cause of the explosion. Perhaps it is an archeological dig for Sith artifacts or an illegal Whaladon hunt?

We plan to include some floor plans when everything is compiled into the book. For now, my own work will lack artwork until the finishing stages.

If someone wants to include their own floor plans, we'll be happy to include those instead of creating our own for the establishments.
