Does anyone have the D6 stats for the Raptor Commados?

I can find the stats for their amour in Gry's equipment book and the TIE Raptors in the ships book but I can't find anything else around.

No worries, that's from Cracken's Threat Dossier, page 37.

Interesting. They have brawling but no brawl parry.

They'd use their Dexterity for that, though I do agree that it probably should have been listed. Course maybe their only taught to attack, attack, attack. I mean that also don't have melee parry either.

What I find most interesting is that they have a dexterity of 4D+1 when human maximum is 4D

But we do know it is possible, though difficult, to raise attributes above the max. Look at the Royal Guard in the Imperial Sourcebook, Rules of Engagement, and the Special Edition Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, their DEX 5D. Next step up from the Royal Guard is the Sovereign protectors and in the Dark Empire Sourcebook their DEX 5D and PER 4D+1

Very true but the Raptors are a little more elite than I'd expected. Even a small patrol of three of them would be a tricky fight for a lone PC.

I expected more in command though.

Zsinj wanted them to be elite troops who'd replace the stormtroopers. Most attribute stats are higher than the regular stormies, only their PER and TECH stats are identical. So they are a little more elite. Of course if you want to go with the GM notes in Rules of Engagement you could make them even deadlier at the veteran and elite levels. Just distribute an extra 2D into the attributes and an extra 5D into the skills for veteran troopers. And for elite troops distribute an extra 6D into the attributes and an extra 7D into the skills.

And regular stormies don't have much in the way of command either.

I'd consider regular stormtroopers better equipped though as they have all sorts of helpful things built into their amour.

They don't need brawling parry, since with Rules of Engagement, you can use Martial Arts to defend yourself. Smile

They seem like Diet Storm Commandos to me.

But the Raptors get no DEX penalty for wearing their armor, and it allows them to better resist energy damage than regular stormie armor. Regular stormtrooper armor grants +2D to physical and +1D to energy while -1D to DEX and related skills while Raptor armor grants +1D to physical and energy and no DEX penalty. At STR 2D a stormie is tied with a Raptor for taking physical damage thanks to their armor, but they loose out a little when taking energy damage. The Raptors also get the advantage since they don't have to be penalized for wearing their armor. Put them in stormie armor and they can take more physical damage

Where the stormies really gain the advantage is the MFTAS in their helmets. +2D to PER checks in low visibility (and depending on the GM maybe to search checks under the same condition) and +2D to any ranged weapon skills against targets moving more than 10 meters a round. Plus their lens are designed to prevent flash blinding.

Its not an uncommon mistake. You can sometimes even see seasonded bounty hunters with the melee skill but no melee parry...not very logical.

The melee makes some sense depending on what style of fighting they're used to. When I was learning a particular style of German longsword fighting, there weren't really any blocks as such. There were beginning guards that gave you a level of defense from most attacks that would come in on a particular plane (with six guards). The rest was all a series of attacks that could be launched from those six guards. The idea is that you're supposed to be killing the other guy. If he's dead, then there's nothing to defend against. Smile Seriously, though, the real thought process was that if someone is constantly defending, then the odds are against them in terms of how many blows they could successfully deflect before one got through. If you taught them basic postures that were kinda defensive, and from those they could launch attacks, the chances were better that someone else would die before you needed to block another shot.

I'm not sure that our friends at WEG put that much thought into it, but simply because it is counterintuitive doesn't mean that it is unrepresented in life.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure how much "fencing" training Civil War officers had when they were carrying their sabers. I think they were mostly concerned with riding by folks and lopping bits and pieces off, weren't they?
