Also, don't forget that in Dune it is not a matter of taking a melange dose for prescience to navigate.

Guild Navigators are the only ones who can do it; and the navigators are mutants who require vast quantities in a prolonged fashion; literally swimming in it. They become so 'evolved' that they don't even resemble humans anymore.

That's a good reminder, but for my Star Wars adaptation I didn't want to take it that far. Spice navigation only works for certain species. The navigator of a PC ship in a campaign set there would have to use the spice, and I didn't want the PC or their NPC competitors and antagonists to have to become mutants. Take a dose of spice has some minor temporary personal effects, but long term regular use can become addictive, with only temporary minor withdrawal effects for going without it.

The only other viable option to spice navigation is instinctive astrogation, but when the Empire invades, being Force Sensitive is illegal so a ship not having any spice or guild licensed navigators would be a dead giveaway that the Force is being used. So the spice is key to the economy in the Whills Nebula. The spice must flow.

Not the same as snorting some blow to figure out a good route. Wink

My spice will have to be smoked so it is more analogous to marijuana than cocaine. I was thinking of calling it, "megange". 8)

Somewhat off-topic, but I have elsewhere considered another crossover that might suit your needs, Whill.

A variation on the Hybrids from the Reimagined BSG series, force users could be lobotomized and linked into the control systems of elite ships of the Imperial Navy, allowing them make use of Instinctive Astrogation, as well as the Track Hyperspace Trail homebrew power.

Horrific! I'll keep that in mind if the Spice Guild rebels against the Empire towards the end of the campaign.
