Yes! And maybe it could talk, but only its wielder could listen to it! What would the stats of this talking saber be?
On a serious note, yeah, one should be really careful about attributing too many abilities to this thing, pretty soon a smart player would become a juggernaut with just this single weapon... The blade is black, it looks cool, move along... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

It is going to take me a bit to reply with a multiquote to all the posts I have missed.
I did not have the best of days today. The word "inconclusive" is a bitty, she is. That was the result of 20 minutes with my breasts pressed flat as pancakes to the point of crying in pain (mam xrays suck, seriously!), inconclusive.

Hopefully "inconclusive" will become "nothing to worry about".
Hang in there.
On the black lightsaber: personally I like it being a dark black color- no other explanation necessary. This is Star Wars, and if you or a player wants a black lightsaber blade- more power to ya. A lot of folks seem to be... very picky about lightsaber blade colors. Silver, gold, black- it's a lightsaber. If you want an explanation- maybe the gem is glazed by too much super-heating and the blade only does 4d+1 or 4d+2 damage instead of 5d.

I actually had a player once want a blade that gave off light not visible to the human eye (since all you are really seeing of a lightsaber 'blade' is emitted light) because he felt it would make it very hard for his opponents to parry.
He did not consider what would happen to his own DNs when he could not see his own blade while fighting. He died embarrasingly. |

And if he hadn't killed himself, I would have simply brought in some aliens that could see in other light spectrums. Not too hard, in SW. |

That would have been cool but a lightaber has other properties beyong the spectrum of light it displays so I bet the Vong would have addapted to it pretty quickly. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Another thing...Even an "invisible" UV blade will likely still glow faintly, assuming it is not being used in a pure vacuum. Dust, particles, oxygen, etc, might burn or react as it contacts the energy blade, and that reaction would likely be visible, at least faintly, in the visible light spectrum. |
