Armor appears to have cultural (and possibly religious) significance in Mando culture. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Did he? And here I thought he just took the armor off of is headless father (or had someone do it for him).

Even in the The Mandalorian, the Fetts aren't really represented as true Mandalorians, culturally. Jango Fett was supposedly a foundling whose father may have been a bonafide Mandalorian, but Jango only inherited the armor and didn't seem to exhibit any of the cultural values of the Mandalorians. Jango's foundling status seems to have been a compromise with Lucas who mandated for TCW that the Fetts were not Mandalorians and only wore their armor. _________________ *

I can see Jango trying to "out-Mandalorian the Mandalorians" as a reaction to that "not a real Mandalorian" label. Mandalorians appear to be big on meritocracy, so being better at Mandalorianing than "real" Mandalorians would be realistic, either to gain their grudging approval or to rub their noses in their own hypocrisy. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Yes. And his son Boba, as portrayed in The Mandalorian, was a total badass could have easily killed Mando, but knew Mando was a zealot of Mandalorian culture which strongly implies being involved with other Mandalorians which Boba would not want to unnecessarily cross. Boba played the 'Hey I'm a cool kid too' card. _________________ *
