I received a nonpublic question I thought I would post to open it up to other responses.

Quote:
...A cohort of mine was curious about the DEX skill Flamethrower: it isn't listed in any of the main rulebooks, or even the GM screens. I was wondering which sourcebook(s) had this skill listed

To my knowledge, the only place the Flamethrower DEX skill is listed in RAW is in the stats for Bossk on p.62 of the Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook Special Edition. No rules for the skill are given, and the only stat for the weapon is "(4D)".

Unofficially, the Flamethrower skill and weapons stats appear in REUP. There are probably other fan rules/stats posted on the forum we can use the Search function to find. Anyone else have any responses to this question?

Flame Projectors are mentioned in a bit more detail in the Han Solo & The Corporate Sector Sourcebook (pg. 117-118).

I did my own write-up for Flame Damage here, but haven't gotten around to actually writing up rules for them. If I did, I'd likely treat them as having an effective Auto-Fire rating of 3D or 4D due to flamethrowers shooting a continuous stream of flame. If one were inclined to combine the HSatCS book rules with my Flame Damage rules, I'd probably drop the Flamers' damage by 2D or 3D, and give them 3D or 4D Auto-Fire to compensate.

Actually, on a further search, I did stat out a Flamethrower using those rules, as discussed in greater detail in this topic.

Good catch; they're basically full-form stat versions of the ones from the Corporate Sector book.

Officially, i've seen some books reference them, but none of the CORE books listed a flamer, or flame thrower skill to my knowledge.

I think I saw soemwhere on a Boba Fett write up, or his armor write up that his "wrist flametrwoer" was DEX and armor weapons, spc wrist flamethrower.

I will see if I find it

Confirmed. P.65 of the Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook Special Edition has a Flame Projector as one of Boba's armored weapons, with some basic rules for it.

I having trouble understanding the actual question.

Are we at a loss because there is no "flamethrower" skill, so we don't know how it should work?

If that's the case, I'd suggest looking at the blaster skill or other ranged attack skill.

Best I can tell, the "skill" itself is actually irrelevant since it's simply the means by which an attack result is generated. All the rules for how something works are found within the weapon's entry, correct?

In other words the answer to "what does a flamethrower do?" is found in the entries for flamethrower weapons, just like "what does a blaster do" will not be answered by looking at the blaster skill, but by looking at the blaster weapons.

Sorry if I've missed the point. Embarassed

I’m wondering if Flamethrowers might be too narrow of a skill. In a universe with Stokhli Spray Sticks and such, perhaps a broader category of Spray Weapons (of which Flamethrowers would be a Specialization) would be more appropriate.

TBH, my gut is "Missile Weapons", which seems to be a catch-all.
