I can see it as a fluff explanation as to why some armor will have better/worse Encumbrance relative to the protection provided (or the cost). I’m not advocating for the addition of plate or chain mail to the SWU outside of niche scenarios like feudal tech level planets, but the idea of armor being structured so that its weight bearing is distributed across the body - as opposed to mostly on the shoulders - has some potential usefulness.

Also, w/r/t starship and vehicle Encumbrance, here’s my current house rule. As I have mentioned elsewhere, ideally, I’d like to integrate these with graviton weaponry that increases the effective Encumbrance of the target.[/url]
